If we're talking early lunch (and what time is early for everyone?), then I would think we'll have no trouble getting an area to ourselves.

I'm working from home tomorrow (was training a class today and yesterday) so I'll call them and let you all know...

I was thinking about 12.00 if that wasn't too early for people to be able to get to London?

OK here's the deal.
On speaking to the restaurant in China Town, they said they did not take large group bookings at all so that was out.

I spoke to Brown's today and they were happy to take the booking.

I booked under "Kavita" for 22 people in the non-smoking section for 12.00 midday on the 5th.

Smokers can smoke in the bar area which isn't too far from our table anyway.

The £10.95 menu is available (2 courses from good selection) or people can order a la carte. Don't know how on earth to deal with that bill but people are just going to have to keep an accurate note of their drink orders etc.

Browns are emailing me the menus too which I'll put online when I get them.

Thanks K.

And at least if everyone enters the Self Portrait challenge we'll be able to find each other.

For anyone planning their trip, note that the Cirlce and District underground lines are not running that weekend. Just a heads up.

Yeah, at the moment, half the bleedin' lines seem to be down most weekends and, to be honest, weekday service is more fraught than usual with delays.

We'll have to see what's going on just before the weekend and work our plans around it...

Yes. Sounds good - pub food type stuff is always good with me.
02/17/2005 08:55:29 AM · #37
Good!
Setting isn't particularly pubby - more bistro-ey - but food includes pub stuff like pies plus gastropub/ bistro stuff like pastas, steaks etc.
The £11 gives either a starter and a main OR a main and a pudd. Drinks are not included so people are going to need to keep a note of which drinks they have ordered, or possibly order and pay for own at the bar, to make the bill paying easier!

I would recommend the latter K - looks like there's going to be around 30 of us, and everyone keeping their own record will be a nightmare :-)

Pardon my ignorance but....what is a pudd?

Looking forward to it. As it turns out now I'm moving house on that weekend, hoping to get it all done on the friday to keep the saturday clear. I'll leave the better half at home on Saturday to unpack if we're not all done then :P

So, just out of curiousity, how long do you guys think the GTG will last? I'm trying to figure out if I'll need my tripod or not.

The last one we did lasted from lunchtime til late afternoon, but then there was only about 6-7 of us. I suspect that it'll keep on going as long as people still have the energy to wander around with cameras, so it might be worth having a tripod for later in the day, but that's up to you really. I'm considering bringing mine along, especially if it's looking like a good day for twilight/nighttime shooting (here's hoping...), so you could always borrow it off me :o)

NOT TOO LATE!
Let me know ASAP!

Also would appreciate confirmation from anyone on either definites or possibles list as to whether you're coming so I can firm up the numbers and change the booking at Browns if need be.
