I don't need a bag to look like a dork, so don't worry you'll be in good company : )
I'll have an overloaded Lowepro shoulder bag and a tripod bag and will likely be the clumsiest person in London for the weekend.

I can't believe how quickly the G2G has come.

I'll probably do my usual small rucksack on one shoulder and the tripod on the other, leaving both hands free for camera(s) :o)

Mini tripods rule. Got a little one that will expand up to about three foot, but collapse and still fit in my rucksack. (or rather, my fiancee's rucksack )

I have one of those but I plan on doing some serious night shooting so i need a proper tripod. Besides, when I went to France to meet up with another DPCer, he made fun of my little tripod and I just cant put it through that embarassment again! LOL

I've just checked the weather forecasts - looks like it'll be the typical sunshine & showers, with a possibility of the odd snowshower too. Perfect weather for wandering around in... :o/

It wouldn't be London without the bad weather!

Weather SUCKS at the moment and for the last few weeks...

Don't mind cold but hate constant rain/ sleet.

Anyway, don't forget to confirm numbers when you can (Sandymaya, you'd be welcome to bring a friend) and PM me for my mobile number.

You'll need a US (2/3 pin) -> UK (3 pin) adaptor, which you can buy easily at airports and other touristy places. Oh, and make sure it's a UK one, since Europe uses a different plug to both.

Thanks!

And bear in mind that UK (along with most of Europe) uses 220/240V rather that the 110/120V you have on your side of the Atlantic. So make sure your equipment is happy with that before plugging it in or all the magic smoke in it will escape.

Just a note for anyonewho doesn't want to miss me. I'll be wearing a grey anorak, thick rimmed National Health glasses (taped with a plaster at the bridge after a small fight), a bag bristling with camera equipment, long lenses and a telescope, a Happy Shopper plastic carrier bag containing sandwiches and a copy of Bizarre magazine.

Provided Browns is sufficiently distant to any gymnasiums in the area (bloody court injunctions) I look forward to seeing you there.

Imagineer... and your outfit will distinguish you from the rest of us photo nerds how exactly?

LOL

CAN'T wait to meet everyone!

Kavey, All,

Unfortunately I'm scheduled to fly out to India early next week, and I've just returned from Holland so I'm not in the best of favour with family etc.

I have to say I am really disappointed to have to miss the GTG, I was so looking forward to meeting you all. I'm sure this won't be the last GTG, so I'll ensure I make the next one.

Falc

to help me get over the disapointment I just did some retail therapy and bought a Canon 100-400 IS - ouch !!! ;-)

pardon me, but i have yet another query...

i was looking to travel a few years ago, and read that spain had a limit as to the amount of film a tourist could take in and out of the country...

is there any limit as to the number of memory cards and cds i can carry in and out of the uk?

thanks!

Nothing specifically limits what you can take out of the UK AFAIK, and I'd be surprised if that ruling in Spain still existed. However, you may be stung with customs/import charges when you get back to the US if you're bringing back items that have a total value greater your personal allowance...

Thanks...good thing the images on the cds won't have any declarable value ;-)

Bummer, but completely understand and no, it won't be the last one if I have anything to do with it!

*watches the snow fall* Looks like it could be quite a cold weekend...
03/04/2005 05:16:03 AM · #146
You're not kidding...
It's finally stopped but we've had rather heavy snow for the last few hours and it's settled in a beautiful (but inconvenient) white blanket...
03/04/2005 05:36:51 AM · #147
Wherever I've been in the country, the weather has been determined to snow somewhere else, because it knows I want to photograph it. There's no snow here at the moment (Huddersfield), so I'll bet it'll all vanish from London tomorrow as it knows it would make for good photos for me.
Anyway, I'm hoping to leave tomorrow at 8:00... this will make arriving at 11:00 quite tough as you mentioned, but we shouldn't take too much over 3 hours unless there's a catastrophe as I tend to drive quite fast. So I don't think we'll be too late for the 12:00 lunch.
I'm waiting for Bod to get back to me so we can finalise plans.
03/04/2005 05:57:05 AM · #148
OK just give me a call today and confirm what the plans are as you get into THIS end - I think I sent you my phone nums by email?
:o)
03/04/2005 08:38:10 AM · #149
So, it stops snowing, is grey for ages, rains a little, heavy hailshower, and then the sun comes back out again! The weather here is being pretty typically random... Anyone got a good idea for how to waterproof a DSLR? :o)

Put it in a rucksack.

Can't use it though.
