Doh! I just figured it out - I'll stop reading the CC threads and do my own thing. Never mind, problem solved.

I still have to do mine. Haven't been able to do any this week but I will today.

I have no complaints other than selecting a photo to critique and then not critiquing it before the challenge rollover. One critique is always better than no critiques.

I receive complaints from other CC members and I post those issues here. The biggest complaint I currently get is that the CC member photos, which are at the top of the queue, don't get critiques earlier in the week.

What I suggested earlier is just a suggestion. Critique the photos any way you see fit.

The only change that I intend to make is to disable members who have selected photos and not critiqued them by the time the next challenge rolls over. This is only fair. I believe that we should not deny a photographer an opportunity for a critique by locking the photo from those who are doing more critiques. If this is unacceptable, I am sorry.

I don't have any complaints with the nubmer of critiques that are getting done. Of course, I would like to see all of them get done, but I know that won't happen every week. I am trying to solicit more volunteers, but we have over 40 now.

Are you not releasing the "hostage" photos at some point before rollover? Of course people shouldn't take thema and just not do it, but I think it would be a little silly to automatically kick someone because they forget that they chose a picture or don't get to it - especially if they've already done a lot before that one. I, for one, forgot to do one of my assignments last week, but I was going to go do it at 1am Monday morning when I saw that it was already done.

I'm not sure what to do because I have been specifically asked by at least two users NOT to do this because they will get to the photo...

I'm just gonna leave things as they are. There is no answer that will satisfy everyone.

CC Critiques are not guaranteed... even for CC members. CC Members are at the top of the queue, but if they get selected and not done, there is not much I can do about it.

I agree that this is not fair and should be avoided.
If I would get the feeling that I couldn't do my assignment I would just drop you a mail and ask you to unassign it again.
Maybe automate this and make a button to let the CC memeber unassign a photo again (but don't let assign one again) on his/her own very easily.
I think even in the worst time pressure it would be reasonable to hit that button and cancel the promise you made.

I agree wholeheartedly!

Is there any other reason other than the usual comment "addiction"?
Maybe someone who complained to you could do this here in the forum?

I select my photo early in the week primarily because of my own curiousity and so that I can start thinking about it.

If there is a good reason not to do this then please tell me.

Hmm, yes that would be ok. But maybe there should be a grace period for people on holidays and unusual events in the "real life".

On the other hand when you say these members will be "disabled", that this does not mean "Go away and never come back" and that it's very easy to join again when that person feels he/she has more time for the CC again.

John, I think this is a good idea, but you might want to make it a two strikes rule. Doing it once could be an honest mistake... twice sounds like a habit. Also, be careful not to catch anyone that selects an image at 11:30 Sunday night if they don't finish on time.

I am fairly new to the Critique Club, and probably was an "offender" my first week. I thought if I pulled one out and didn't end up having time to critique it, it would go back into the pool. I know I pulled up one or two and I just couldn't think of anything positive about them and went on to do something else.

Now that I know they remain out there unfinished, I will give everyone something of a write up even if it's not much.

I;ve been sick all week, but finally did about 4-6 awhile ago, hope it helps.
