I am looking forward to checking out the first "new" challenge!

Someone needs to update the "Rules at a Glance" box over on the upper left hand column when we first open a challenge page. Umbrella challenge and Free Study challenge, for example, have link to the rules with updated sizes, but the "Rules at a Glance" summary box still has the old information. Probably already in progress, but could cause confusion meanwhile.

Awesome!!!! My challenge entry for aftermath kinda sucks -- but it still was better at 1200. :)

This is wonderful!!!

Are you going to send out emails to the list to try to get people back with the 1200 and c2k?

Dear Langdon,
I uploaded a picture of nearly 9Mb and 3000px in the new challenge c2K. It didn't block the upload and my picture is in the challenge.

I'll probably remember to start looking how to resize and save on the large format sometime just before the end of 2016... Blurry pixelated images appear the same at just about any format size. Hehe.

I'm twice as thankful as I thought I'd be when I opened this. Thanks, folks. Really!!

No, I didn't resize the file, It has been resized by your website engine.
When I uploaded the image it didn't say a thing that my size was over 9mb and over the 1200px .
No need to resize and lower the quality anymore as it seems to be done from your side now.
This is great.

FYI, the challenge submission page has been capable of resizing larger photos to fit the requirements since we launched the Best of 2011 challenge along with the "Copy from Workshop" feature. I'm not sure why I never properly announced that particular aspect of it.

Is this truly going to work? just submit any size/aspect photo and it is scaled to be legal?

It is working now and has worked for a couple years. A website resizer will not be as predictable of quality of output, as a photographer resizing to specific dimensions and file size and sharpening, if needed. Of course, I'm assuming the resizer leaves properly sized images untouched.

The full rules have a parenthetical inclusion spelling out that challenges posted before Oct 22nd are still 800/300... The sidebar rules are accurate for each challenge.

NOTE: the October FS was posted up before Oct. 22nd, so it will be the last gasp of the 800-pixel limit. If you forget this, and post a 1200-pixel image, the engine will resize it to 800 for display in the challenge.

I'm way to lazy to read this whole thread, but I like the change...

Thanks!

This is a welcome change. Thanks for the increase.

What will this do to our portfolio space? Do the challenge entries count against that?
