I, on the other hand, came along 2 years after you, in 2004, and have been trying to get on the danged site council ever since, but nobody's drafted ME :-(

On the other hand, I came along in 2003, and if someone had invited me to the SC, I'd have run like the wind in the other direction! What you guys have done for the past 10+ years is amazing.
...and Bear, your influence is way too good on this side of the fence.

And, although you would have brought honor to the position, its good you never went over, that would be like Jimmy Hoffa joining Management, lech walesa working for the shipyard, Harry Potter going to Slytherin, etc...

Why protect cheaters? Make an example of them, name and shame ...

Are you volunteering to defray DPC's legal expenses in the event of a suit for libel or slander? Remember, it will be expensive even if "we win."

Perhaps there are good reasons for these matters to be handled by a select group and not opened up for a public vote ... your personal desire for vengence does not outweigh the needs of the site as a whole.

How ridiculous and interpretive a statement is that GeneralE? I do not seek vengeance nor did I ask it, only justice and fair play.

We have already administered justice within the site's rules and guidelines. I'm sorry you don't agree with the verdict/penalty, but structure of the site does not include participation by the membership at large in decisions of this nature.

BTW: you mention long-standing American traditions, one of which is that "personnel matters" are usually held in confidence from peers and the public. DPC is (fortunately!) not a part of the governement structure, and is not required to be a completely open participatory democracy.

But we the peasants demand heads on pikes!

How else will we deter the heretics and blasphemers?

shhheeeessshhh...how horrible...I could not even begin to imagine that there are such low life's about on this forum...on the other hand I don't think that one person's cheating in this manner would affect the votes and the end result in any significant way.

Dear DPC users:

Throughout the past several months we have received many and varied reports and tickets alluding to unusual voting in several challenges. We have investigated, and our investigation thus far has resulted in a lengthy suspension of at least one confirmed "reverse voter."

We will continue to investigate and take action against anyone who violates the rules and the spirit of the site by illegally and unethically voting down images to bolster their own placement in challenges.

The relevant entries have also been disqualified. Another user is facing a ban for similar activity with a ghost account. We take this sort of cheating very seriously and remind users to play with respect and fairness toward others. Intentionally manipulating votes to influence challenge results is a blatant violation of DPC rules and will be punished.

what is a reverse voter?

Someone who intentionally votes "bad" images high and "good" images low

A single voter can affect whether someone wins a ribbon or not. I know this, because I cost myself a ribbon by voting honestly in a challenge and finished 4th, just .0005 points out of third. Had I not voted, I would have won my first ribbon. So intentionally voting a good image low certainly can affect the outcome of a challenge.

Some of these comments make me laugh; we are conditioned refuse people's opinion.

Why can't a ribbon winner get a 1?

If I think being is a "2" or a "3",
but maybe that shot goes one step further.
Maybe, they make the perfect technical picture.
And well, maybe this is worse than being technically bad and cliché.

I think certain photos gets people goats.
If you can't understand how a photo gets a "1", then maybe you still have to understand people a little more.

It would be kind of boring if we all agreed.
