A little while ago, I was looking at some of
Kylie's Portfolio pictures and I was left with a little inspiration
regarding some of the architectural shots in her portfolio.
Thanks Kylie, for opening my eyes to something that
can be so easily overlooked and taken for granted:
Modern Art in the
San Diego Airport.

Yes, very nice shot Brad :) and I must say I revisited Kylie's porfolio the other day and loved her new found talent with architecture.
Mind you, I do think this is one of the best pics in her port
I guess this thread is now the official 'we like Kylie' page

BTW everyone, if you really want to see great architecture, form and line photography, take a look at my "Favorites". In there you will see Geewhy, Banmorn, JPR and many, many others who really know how to do it right. But thanks for my 2 minutes of fame!!! I'll post FZ shots as soon as I run into another great building! lol

Not only is Kylie a talented photographer who continues to improve rapidly, she is also one of the most friendly and helpful people I have had the pleasure of corresponding with on DPC.
Kylie: Congrats on the new camera. I see you are the only owner, you'll have that camera page filled up in no time and you will completely own it just like you own the page for your old Kodak. Very impressive! |

New shots will come from the new camera as soon as:
1. I get over the shock of this wonderful thread
2. I hire a maid and secretary
3. I find another great building
Seriously - I can't believe I finally get this baby and haven't hardly gotten to touch it!! But you will be first to see the results soon!!

Kylie is one of the first people I really got to know a little bit on here too, because of one certain thread, and I agree with most of the sentiments.. she's a wonderfully positive person that DPChallenge is priveleged to have..
Also.. now she has a sweet-ass camera.. and here I thought I had the jump on her. lol

Yep, Kylie's one of the nicest DPC members, and it's great to see your portfolio improving so rapidly! I hope you enjoy your new camera, it really should be able to do almost everything that a DSLR can do, without having to change lenses all the time. Get yourself a UV filter to protect your lens though... you may want to check your manual, but I think it takes a 72mm thread. Get a new one off ebay. Get yourself a circular polariser while you're at it.
I'm really jealous of the new lens hood that ships with the FZ20... the attachment at the end with the petals is new to the FZ20, and will cut down on a lot of lens flare that I get when using filters with the FZ10, and looks pretty cool! I'm also really jealous of the multi-metering... that should save a lot of time when taking journalistic shots out and about, I have to faff about with spot metering which is not the quickest way of setting up a shot. You also might want to think about a flash... I've recently got a Sunpak 383, which seems to be the flash of choice in all the Panasonic forums I've looked in, and it's a really cool flash. You can tilt and pan the head to bounce the light off ceilings and walls.
Good luck,
Bob |
