Hey, this wasn't supposed to be a discussion on the morality of girl-girl love... it supposed to be all about Facebook being butt-nuggets... focus people - focus. :-)

Spork, I just don't buy the argument that says "paul's word is so vague, this word is better. Oh wait, well this word is vague as well..."

but not as vague.

In any event, claiming that that particular passage is where the bible calls out homosexuality as a sin just isn't the case. You can choose to interpret it that way and use that to justify your homophobia, but it's anything but definitive.

Whatever floats your boat Spaz. You seem as sure of the interpretation as anybody else...

Nope, I don't really care. I know that Jesus' message was to love your fellow man. Son of God or not, that's enough for me. The rest is just picking the flypoop from the pepper.

It's the use of his message to spread messages of hate like the homophobia that gets shouted from pulpits across the world that turns me and many others away. If that's the kind of thing that makes you feel good, you can have it. You want to shout, "God damns homosexuality!" as if those very words were written by the hand of God in stone tablets, but it's far removed from that certainty.

I think an excellent example for Christians to emulate is when the woman caught in adultery was brought to Jesus. After his famous "Let anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." and the people had left he has this exchange with her:

"Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
"No one, sir." she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

It's like that.

If only it were really like that.

How the heck did this thread get this far afield, LOL? It went off the road, down the embankment, through the ditch and now it's being dragged through the mud.

Jason, you know that I like and respect you, but this attitude is nothing short of condescending and narrow-minded. What you're saying, in essence, is that homosexuals are something less than others. You apparently bear them no malice, but in the same breath you entreat them to "leave your life of sin"? Sin in who's eyes?
I'm sorry, but I'm tired of seeing my gay friends denied their rights and treated as if they are somehow defective, based on a religious position. We are *supposed* to be a society where all religions (or the absence thereof) are treated equally, however some seem to believe it is their right to push a fundamentalist Christian viewpoint on everyone, and in this case to use it to promote homophobia. I'm not buying it.

They re-opened my account after quite a bit of harassment on my part.

Are you giving up your homophobia?
