I really got back into photography this year and this site is a huge part of that. I've taken so many pictures that I never would have taken before.
So...my choices are:
I love everything about this shot, especially the fact that I got my girlfriend to model her legs! :-)
I just like the flow of this shot, It was the last shot I took for the challenge and almost didn't even take it. I was putting my camera back in the bag and thought "maybe one more shot from this angle".

My daughter Tien
My daughter Alia
Both were fun and challenging because of the lighting involved
I thought both would score better but the DPL voting and entries were tough to compete against. |

Only been into photography for about 6 months but have loved every second of it. This is probably my favourite photo that I have taken in that time.
Although this didn't do at all well in the challenge, I really like the picture. |

I'd like to re-process this one but the content is serendipitous and a nice memory for me.

Looking back over the past year, I'm reminded of how bleak and inaccessible my work has become. I wonder what that says about me. Two examples are among my favorites of 2010.
untitled (Free Study 2010-11)
I was so excited and sure about this one that I uploaded it on the third of the month. It got a cool reception -- not even my kindred nonconformist spirits showed up to give it love. I still like it.
underexposed (Free Study 2010-03)
This is a favorite, not in the sense that I like to look at it, but rather because it raised some eyebrows and made some noise. Looking back, my only regret is not processing it in black and white. |

What a great idea for a thread! Many of you have posted shots that are favorites of mine from your challenge entries. Either that or I apparently like a lot of your challenge entries! :-) Nice work, folks! |

I have to add this one:
because it was a wonderful morning. This was the 4am challenge. I was going to skip it, but my son, jcar, was really excited about getting up at 3:30am and going shooting for it (he didn't have school that morning.) It was fun roaming around with him before most of the world was awake. Wonderful memory and fun picture, to boot. Thanks, DPC!

From my last week in Germany before I moved back to the land of the home of the free and the brave and the masses of concrete and cookie-cutter strip malls...
A very pleasant day of shooting. |

These are my favorites because there's a personal aspect to them for me.
As far as emotion in a subject, I think this is one of the best shots I've been able to take. But, I'm biased because it's my daughter's birth.
A more recent submission of my first daughter playing in the leaves. I just liked the processing and the look on her face.

I love the fact that I was able to make something interesting from nothing at all. It was hard for this to compete with all the expert editing in the challenge but I had to submit it.
I love the light at dusk. I had a wonderful time shooting for the Nixter challenge and was very pleased with the feel of this entry.

I only have half a year to choose from, but what an amazing half it was! Thank you all.
One of my first entries, probably the most fun I've had with an entry. Didn't know much about lighting, this was done using all available lights in the kitchen (tungsten, halogen, neon). I realize now how much it lost because of the light, but I don't mind. The astronaut is from a Space Shuttle set bought at the Udvar-Hazy center in DC (what an amazing place!).
Half a year later, this is my second favorite. Not only because it's my son, but that expression - the look I get when I'm distracting him during an Angry Birds game. I love it.

Overall, I think my higher scoring pics are my better ones. Voters are generaly right, so it seems. However, I would post my exceptions here, 'cause I like them more than the general public (apparently) does:
and my oobie-winner:

A fun trip with the kids and our new puppy, and a wonderful experience of light.
Tried multiple times to photograph this scene, so it was quite satisfying to finally capture what I saw. |
