Wasn't someone on here doing 100 Self Portraits in 100 days? Who was that, and how is he doing? Anyone know?

I don't think you are going to see any hosting the pictures from their portfolio here, it is too small to hold that many photos (around 68 photos at the site recommended size of 150K). So many use other sites to store the larger portfolios.

I just want to if ANYONE at all finds this Idea interesting? no?

I don't think one photo a day is a good idea at all. You need to relax and think too. No point in pointing and shooting if you don't have ideas. It's doing any sport . Your body needs to recuperate. You mind needs time to think and focus. My opinion anyway.

You don't have to produce a great photograph every day. That's not the point of the project. Think into it a little deeper...

PaD is an interesting idea, and there are a lot of good reasons to make the commitment. There are also some bad reasons to do it. I recently read an essay on Boring Photographs. It's thesis is that boring photographs are often made when amateur photographers stop pursuing their hobby for themselves and try to make photos for others. This usually results in a vaguely empty feeling that is often filled by purchasing new equipment. It doesn't suggest alternatives, but PaD comes to mind as a way for people who can't afford new equipment to try to add life to their hobby. That won't really fill the emptiness. But there are those who find PaD fulfilling and a great way to practice their technical and artistic skills; that's wonderful!

I personally have other hobbies and projects, and am unwilling to commit to put them aside for the sake of taking a photo every day. I love photography, but need an occasional break from it.

Maybe I came up with that because some days I don't even see my camera. :( hehehe. Well I am someone who spens a lot of time at work and sometimes is required to work from home too. Anyway, I do understand what you are saying too jmsetzler. Point taken.

edit: another typo 8-)

I think the best photographs are taken by someone who has a passionate
interest in something, and takes picture of that thing they are interested in. If the passion is photography itself, that can
certainly can lead to pretty uninspired pictures. It also leads to the gear fetishist approach of buying cameras for the sake of cameras, rather than to take pictures of things.

The Photo-A-Day project doesn't have to be for the purpose of producing an inspired and winning image once per day. Consider it a photo diary instead of a contest to see who can produce the best photos. You simply make a photo of something you are involved in during the course of any given day. Write a brief comment to go along with it. On days where your objective is to make great photos, then you will have a great photo. On days where you woudn't normally shoot at all, you simply have another 'entry' in your photographic journal of some sort.

Do serious photographers fear the thoughts of making snapshots? Or maybe there is a fear of sharing those snapshots... I dunno.

right on!

PAD - is not a contest! Rather a blog, with occational outbursts of creativity.

BTW, did you see some of PAD galleries??? ...if not, first you need to see them!
There are some increadible photos, of some ordinary things.

I beg you to check them out, and themn come here and post (keep in mind, PAD is not a contest, no one trying to WIN)

At times it can be really daunting when you have that midnight deadline and nothing interesting in your day to photograph. There are times, however, where I have taken pictures I have come to really like that I would not have taken had it not been for doing a PaD. It also tends to make you look at ordinary things and try and make them interesting either with different light or any number of creative things. And although people share their PaD's in the end it's just a personal thing for you, including being able to see how your photography has progressed.

I really like the idea, but I just don't get the time to take a shot every day. I only get the opportunity to go out shooting on weekends. I wish I could do photography 100% of the time, but must pay the bills somehow...
