I got so interested that I went out and shot this little guy ... not as much in focus as I would like but it was fun. Thanks Matt for starting this thread. Feel free (anyone)to give me tips on how to improve my shots. I don't have, nor do I know how to use, extension tubes.

Here is a macro shot (well it was not a true macro but an extreme close up shot) that I entered in the recent Bokeh challenge. Was my first entry with my macro lens and was good enough to make the page for the lens.

| Thanks Matt, I appreciate the help. I too have a 580EXII, but it lives in my case as I don't have a clue how to use it. Maybe I need to focus on learning my flash and then I can improve my macro. I also might have to invest in extension tubes. Buy, buy, buy, does it ever end? |

I will try to shoot or post a new shot daily, but will have to limit my commenting to an hour or hour and a half per day. There are a lot of people in on this SC and I can't stay up all night every night commenting. I have done it before, and it puts me at a safety risk when I work or drive while sleepy.

Don't overlook shooting from further back with a long lens -- I have been shooting most of my florals that way lately ... it makes it easy to get a nice bokeh background and shallow DOF, and you don't block the light with your lens.
I guess I might toss in a few shots here, though I'm going to be out of town for quite a bit of the month. |

Just saw this! Let me in, pleeez!! I have a macro lens for the first time this summer, having a blast with it, hoping to learn enough to be much, much faster & more sure of myself when I see something like this adorable little tiny green bee. I admit it freely, I was shooting on Program. But today I also experimented with the fastest f-stop I've got, f22. Interesting.
