Well ablessg, as you come through DFW, if there is no traffic, that will be extraordinary!! LOL :o)

Wave to the east as you pass through!

I seriously doubt there will be no traffic : ) That would be extraordinary ! I'm just hoping they have made some progress on the 75/635 construction. I have to make that drive every two weeks or so and I hate the traffic. I used to live in the Metroplex and everytime I drive through, I remember why I moved : D

No, it's still a construction wasteland/parking lot right there. Sorry! :o)

if one changed a photo using curves till it was psychedelic -ish
would this be thrown out for the challenge?

That is perfectly ok. I would ask for a validation just in case.

THAT was funny! I'm of the impression you have a rich life... ==

I know the feeling...my husband would most likely ask the same thing!!

Is it only me, or can't a well executed picture of a flower, or a sunset, or a waterfall, or a wooded glen, or a baby, or something similar represent extraordinary? I mean, LIFE is extraordinary. A beautiful rose is extraordinary. I know, I know, the judging on DPC probably won't see it that way, but I considered everything from a self-portrait (hey, I'm extraordinary! and no, I'm not trying to be egotistical; I think people are extraordinary!) to a shot of something from nature. I don't think it has to be rare, but it should be amazing. Isn't life amazing?

I agree wholeheartedly. I think this will be an AMAZING challenge and look forward to seeing it. My picture will probably bomb - I don't care - but it memorializes and extraordinarily funny and at the same time unusual photographic experience. It will no doubt offend some, but I believe at least one other person will connect with the wonder of it all.

As for each of us being extraordinary, I got my children semi-interested in my other passion - genealogy, and had them sit down and figure out how many possible grandparents they had at each generation. You know, you have two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents.... etc. etc. Check out how many you have at the 25th generation (not so long ago, really) and then the 30th (maybe back to the middle ages). Before too long, you have more possible grandparents in a generation than there were people on the planet at the time. Extraordinary!!! And every single set of them had to meet under whatever circumstance and produce the next generation. All of them had to meet at just the right time to produce the unique individual who is YOU. Yep, I think you are indeed extraordinary! Good luck in the challenge everyone. I look forward to extraordinary results from an extraordinary group!

I totally understand. I had to go to the ER yesterday for meds that couldn't wait til Monday and stopped on the way home to take pictures of... (well, you might see later). My hubby thought I had completely lost my mind (and he's probably right). Feel much better now and am glad I stopped!)

O.K., so maybe now I've figured out again how to respond to someone's comment -- sorry folks.

It's one of my favorite ways of "messing around" with a photo, but they rarely score very well -- even though it's completely legal (even for Basic editing) people seem to equate it with the dreaded "Digital Art."

There were all "colorized" using just Curves; the first one's my adaptation of a photo by soup, the second one is a tri-tone using black, yellow, and cyan.

yesterday I ran into our queen. Yes I did have my camera, but I was busy taking pictures of my daughter and only noticed it was the queen when I wondered what that old lady in sailing-shorts was smiling at (my daughter) and then saw her bodyguards, who looked like they would jump on me the second I aimed something on their boss the queen. So I didn't dare.
Would have been a good picture for extraordinary i think (although not many of you would recognize the dutch queen maybe), but alas...
