Can't you tell the seagull is terrified?? :)

I think Johanna won't mind if I share her most recent updates on Facebook:
At the gate, heading home. Wish me strength.
*******
First leg complete. Seated and ready for final stretch.
Can't wait for my next pill dose...
********
The turtle has landed. Getting spirited home by friends. May be a bit before I write more. Thank you all soooooo much for all your love and support.
I'm sure she is exhausted, but at least she's home - and must have made enough progress to be cleared for the flight in the first place.
We're all still thinking about you, Johanna. |

Thanks for the update. I haven't been on Facebook all day so the last I saw was the first update you shared. So glad to hear she's home.

Hi, Johanna
It is fantastic that you are back home, it must be a much better place to be.
From my experience get the best doctors you can and get multiple opinions.
The neurosurgeon that operated on me years ago was the fourth I saw and he was the best.
Same with orthopedic surgeon, the fourth opinion was the best for me.
Make the right choice and you will much better :)
Best of luck with this, I am sure that you will pull through
As the French say - courage!

I was lucky. My ortho cutter was the second. I consider him to be a genuine rock star in his field. The wrist, and the hand are in general, is a pretty complicated area and he pieced me back together with utilization and dexterity such that I can hardly believe.
The really cool part about it is that because of my background in automotive suspensions, steering, fabrication, and damage repairs, I had a really good grasp of A: Just exactly how much damage was done to my wrist, and B: Just how freakin' good this surgeon is.
This also enabled me to communicate with him such that he knew *I* knew how good he is, and so I could truly express my gratitude to him for saving my wrist.
Make sure you have a good warm fuzzy for the Doc that you choose.....he/she will be very important to you for this exercise. You want to have the utmost confidence when they slip you that large martini to knock you out for the surgery.
I remember when I was in the ER that the first Orthopedic surgeon looked at my x-ray and said, "I don't want to try and fix that!". (Gee, thanks Doc! You know you said that out loud, right???)
But the guy that did the work was a whole different story......he was most reassuring, and he exuded the confidence that was palpable and I knew I was in the best of hands. Though he nver said it in the same words, I pretty much got the feeling that the damge I had done to my wrist was as bad as he'd seen.
Fingers crossed, prayers sent, obligatory platitudes murmured..... You know we love you, get yer ass better, will ya?
Give me a quarter, I'll show ya my x-rays with the metal junk in my arm!
