Cory! Good to see you, dude! I named my dog after you! (Well, not really, but his name is Corey... :P )

LOL, I've been hiding in the air and behind a keyboard mostly. And I'm spending a ludicrous amount of time riding my Onewheel these days.

Though, I've gotten good enough that carting gear around with me is fairly reasonable to do, so maybe I'll start taking some real photos again and playing one day soon.

Gawd knows I miss all of you a lot (even those of you I see on FB, it's still nice and different here.)

True enough :-) Facebook we ain't. Don't be a stranger, you're part of the DNA of this place, part of the part that kept our freak flag flying :-)

I don't participate much here anymore, but DPC sure isn't making it friendly to be here. I just signed in to possibly submit a photo and get the following:

You have been suspended from this portion of the site through 01/01/2019 for the following reason:

Suspension for voting infractions

LOL - - I'm not in DPL and vote by my heart. What the flying flock is that B.S.??? Must have given an admin a low vote...

Oh, is that what happened? ;-) Seriously, I wouldn't have posted this here if someone had responded to my "contact us" inquiry about this ridiculous suspension. Thinking we are on a ship with no skipper at this point.

Except we DID respond to your ticket. And we had sent you notices even before that. I suspect your DPC mail address may not be current, OR for whatever reason your mail is treating our messages as spam. Please look into that. Meanwhile, you may email me at bear_music@yahoo.com, using DPC QUERY in the subject line, and I will copy you directly with what we had sent to you.

Let's get this sorted out. We're definitely not rudderless right now since Langdon made me an admin, we have been communicating much more effectively. Or so I am told :-)

Appreciate it Bear - - however never received a word and any excuse for suspending me is B.S.

I'll email you though. Thank you.

Any dpc email goes into my spam folder. Even though I have told it over and over that it's not spam. :(

I would like to get DPC mails in my Spam folder. But DPC mails simply don̢۪t reach me at all, I checked all possibilities and they just don̢۪t reach me. Quite sure there̢۪s a problem with DPC̢۪s mail server.

I've read through this thread with interest. I joined this site in 2002 and it taught me so much in the first few years. I stopped taking part after dipping in and out as I became quite intimidated by the unbelievable standard of photography and feeling that I wasn't progressing. However I am eternally grateful to this site and it's been great visiting again. I love the idea of an iPhone challenge as I have spent the last 5 years using an iPad for photography and have loved the freedom of it.
I also like the idea of mentors for returning rusty photographers!
So happy that DPC is still going!

Pretty sure you're quite welcome to use your iPhone for just about any challenge, as long as you protect the EXIF data just like with a regular camera. There are several people here that use phones for entries once in a while. Have at it! :-)

ETA - Check out the numbers, and then dive into a few of the more popular "Apple" cameras. You'll be amazed.

Well, it is as I expected. You must now vote according to the counsel's standards which means you can't use the full voting scale. That's ok... I don't need to vote and I don't need to spend any more money on a membership here either. Perhaps I'll enter the free challenges, but will never vote again. I'm sure that will make those on the council feel better that obviously received a low vote from me and then went digging. Seems sketchy, but it's their playground.

I am not on SC, never have been, never will be, don't want to be. But I take offense at the insinuations here. You can definitely vote the entire scale - from 1-10. What you cannot do is either "vote in a manner that suggests an intent to disrupt the voting system" or "offer or cast biased votes for any other user". And if you were "investigated" for suspicion of low-balling or the opposite, I seriously doubt that it was a low vote on a SC's entry alone that occasioned the inquiry.

Based entirely on my reading of your comment today, I would say that you have somehow come afoul of one of these rules. It's really none of my business, but you are the one who made the situation public.
And may I add that you also "cannot offer slanderous, rude, profane or inflammatory comments".

I've been here much longer than you and have never done anything that you suggest above. Thanks for chiming in though.

Nam's been here for 8 years, Lance, and she's a very active community member. Granted, you've been here 13 years or so, but I hope you'd agree that by the time a member gets to Nam's level she's an established part of the community?

Anyway, we'd be happy to explain to the community why this happened to you, but it would involve disclosing some statistics on your voting, which we won't do without your permission. Would you like us to do that?

What's the point? I vote/voted low. Have in the past, probably would have in the future (but will no longer vote). I've said my peace...I voted within the existing voting scale, yet I was singled out because I voted low.

I know you are probably itching to show the stats, but let me just say, I handed out a bunch of 1's, 2's and 3's. I don't vote on a curve, so feel if the voting scale is 1-10, I should be alowed to use that entire scale.

The site counsel feels differently, and again, it is their playground so it is what it is.

That said, I will no longer vote and I will no longer donate any of my $$$ to this site.

No, we aren't "itching" to do that, we just don't like to labor under insinuations that you were singled out because one or more of us somehow knew you'd given us a low vote. We don't actually know that, as SC. We can keep track of the numbers AS NUMBERS but we can't see who you handed them out to. Even as an Admin I can't do that. In other words, we know how many 10's you handed out in the "Garbage" challenge, whatever, but not who you gave them to.

No, it's NOT "our" playground, it's the COMMUNITY'S playground. SC's job is to keep it civil and fair, to help it be a place where people WANT to hang out and participate.

Frankly, the attitude you're displaying here is dishearteningly anti-social, at least from my perspective. I'll get over it, and I hope you will too.
