No doubt in my mind you made the right choice and what a cracker of a photo it is too

Alternate:

I may have overthought it, but I did some poking around and I went with clean and simple over hummingbirds, which seem to have a history of getting dumped on. With the sunflowers getting a 3 and five 4's (WTF?! And no comments?!), maybe I worried too much.

Sorry Jake, people giving low votes never tell you why. Our anonymous heroes ;-)

And I think you made the right choice, hummingbirds are used too often... as are lighthouses, sunsets, rodeos, landscapes, seascapes, insects, waterfalls and a few more :-)

If you look at the standings a hummer cam in 4th.
Bird people tend to reward (wild) hummer shots like yours. Feeder shots and such don't seem to do as well.

Thank you Paul, Much appreciated!

Jake, I gave your sunflower a 6 and Liked it, but I do have to admit, I do like your alternate better, I would have given your alternate a higher vote :-)) Those flowers with that hummer just pop together.. I have been trying all summer to get hummers and they are fast little buggers to capture a great picture.. I have captured them but not as good as our bird people here and yours...its a photo bucket list that may take me a few years to get LOL, I just have not had the chance for a right timing with the right settings yet.

I noticed on a lot of photos even ribbon winners there was 1-2 and 3s given, I will never, ever understand that myself.. it seems the same troll just went through not even looking at the photos and just handed votes out..

But I also have to add, seeing 112 votes and over 100 was pretty cool to see..

You're kidding, right? You didn't for a second consider either of those "outtakes" over what you entered. Please tell me that you're kidding.

(oh, and by the way, I have no idea why your entry scored as low as it did.)

When I had the Tetons shot and uploaded it, I knew that was the one and this is my personal favorite as well.....

The other two is what I kept submitting and un-submitting before we visited the tetons LOL (hope that makes more sense, I talk backwards)

This was the Tetons with just a bit of editing without NIK editing

As for the votes, I am satisfied with it... I had the first 10 votes as a 7, and then it went way down the lowest of 5.4..
Where it ended I am okay with it and really no complaints, it is what it is... but the voting I just go with the flow of it.. my family and friends love it and have requested prints of it so that made my day :-))

Yeah? Well, I got a 1, two 3's, and five 4's... And edged you out by a couple of places in the standings... Who knows what people think when they vote...

I'm just glad I beat Larry... :P

It was a squeaker. We were both vastly underrated.

I'll take heart in the fact that I didn't get a 1 and did score a single 10. I suspect your gorilla would have taken my flowers easy. LOL

I like the one you entered better, the darker sky looks good.
