 MikeJ, thank you for bringing this up, so i can explain how the website works.
DPChat.net first created to chat within fellow programmers... which later on I added the "Round Table" and "Interview" options.
99.9% of the time, anyone can go there and just start yapping around with others. When an interview or round table scheduled, they are scheduled with certain individuals an/or subjects. Just like in a forum some people go and watch, people talking to each other, QAs etc... at the end, hosts and guests interact with the audience.
It is very important that everyone should know, during an interview, chatting only allowed between the host and the guest(s). Audience can listen, send PMs to each other, but can't interact and disturb the conversation, host locks the chat window.
The whole interview is recorded and can be seeing anytime using "Chat History" link in the chat room. It only records the conversation during an interview or round table discussion. There is a visible indicator during recording.
Longest interview goes around 40-45 minutes; at the end host allows everyone to ask questions by unlocking the chat room but keeping the recording on until the guest leaves the room. All conversations are available later on at the "Previous Interviews" section.
So, chat, round table, interview... townhall, meeting room... DPChat.net website becomes whatever need to be at the moment :) I tried to thought out every options to make it a very fun, entertaining and informational place. and hopefully bring some more people here!
Plus, there are image voting section to vote some of the selected images from DPC (highest voted image shows on the front page top left), a polling page, right now it is asking "Which DPC member (or registered user) is your favorite" and a search page contains numerous of search options such as eBay, Stocks, Dictionary, weather... DPReview database!
Feedback only can be entered after you are done with chatting by clicking on the "Log off" link in the chat room.
Don't forget, if you are from DPC, put your username, check the "Link in" box so during chatting, anyone can go visit your DPC page without actually leaving the room, just by clicking on your username in the chatter-list window!

Just confirmed an interview with Dean Zulich from "The Shot" of VH1, which was aired one season a few years ago. He was the runnerup of that reality show.

That time difference is 6 hours so it would be 3pm in New York, Boston, etc. etc.

As I type this (1 PM USA EST) it is 7 PM in France according to the internet.

I am working on a very nice code for the chat room... here is what's coming up...
Instead of keep checking in to see if anyone in the room, you will be notified when someone occupies the room. And notified when it becomes total vacant. Here's the best part, you will be able to make a friends list and only notified if anyone from the list signes in!
I'll try to make this available before the new year. |

I am half way done, all I need is to create the db and that's about it. page coding is finished.
however, little change so people won't get crazy receiving notifications all day long. You are able to enter or delete your email anytime you want, on site, without dealing with emailing back and fort. Notifications will be sent only when someone logs in and occupies the chat room very first time... there won't be any username listing available. that didn't make any sense since it is sent only when someone is in the room very first time, not with each sign in!
with this option though, I am now able to expend some other ideas for the future. Such as announcing a scheduled interview right before it starts, be able to call your friends while you're in the chatroom and talking to someone, without needing to use other sources etc. |

Bumped my interview to 28th of this month.
I will be interviewed by Cory... and I have no idea what kind of trouble I am going into! I can see eyes are rolling, heads are shaking and some prayers praying for me!

I have finished the notification option. Visit the website and check it out. You can always turn that option on and off anytime.
