Not complaining, just informing

Solved the IE issue. If you download the image to your desktop, you then click on the camera image on google.com [images] and you can select the upload image option, and browse for your photo. Quite longwinded, but it works.

Since all of my DPC images are already resident on my hard drive, can I simply upload that, or does it need to be downloaded from DPC first?

you can simply upload, google looks for the image, not for the heritage of it

I'm not seeing the link to upload a file, or the camera icon, or any of the other stuff you're talking about at Google in any of my older browsers (IE, FF, Safari). Can you post a screen-shot or something? I do see similar features on the TinEye search page.

go to:

images.google.com

Then you'll get the search box, and in the search box will be the little camera:

(picture coming soon)

If you click on the camera, you get another box:

into which you can drag pictures

Open a Google search page (I'm using Chrome)

At the top, there is a toolbar option for 'Images' - click this. I dragged my Google tab to my other screen to make it easier to drag and drop thumbs.

Open your profile/portfolio page. Drag one of your thumbs into the search field on the Google tab (or use the camera icon within the search field to upload from your hard drive)

The page looks like this after you've clicked the 'Images' option.

And it looks like this if you click on the camera icon.

Hey Paul, here are two screen captures of the process:

You click on the thumb you want to find, drag it over to the box in the google search page, and let go. Sometimes it'll go to the DPC page and you just do it again, but mostly it goes to a google results page listing where the images appear.

ETA - wow, slow on the draw! Regardless, there you have it, Paul. Make sure you're in Images. FYI, I am also using Chrome.

My 7 year old umbrella picture appears a few times on pinterest (I have no idea what that is) and on a couple of Arabic-language pages, one of which is probably gay-themed. Nothing else pops up anywhere. This is what happens when you're not a big hit in the pinterest/photo-stealing world! :-)

haha -- I would have thought so. They're very prolific. But I've only found my top entry stolen. No one wants the rest. I guess that's good news... ?

It's Bulgarian. At least according to Chrome. If you use Chrome as your browser it will translate it for you. It's an article about the only successful escape from Alcatraz. The caption on your photo reads "It began with the excavation of the concrete around the ventilation shafts with a spoon and a drill made by vacuum."

Cool thanks, It looks like a History post or something informative. I have a bachelors in History and a bit of a soft spot for it. So the fact that they are using my image doesn't bother me, even though I know it's suppose to... LoL...

I HAVE been poached by the blog.

actually found a different page with one of my images showing up in google search, but it apparently wasn't loading up on page (though clicking the google thumbnail directs to the page using my watermarked image...)
this site apparently uses my Chocolate Heaven entry and has several other images titled "copyright image use prohibited XXXXXX" which could be DPC entries.

*side note, unrelated to you all, but the cottage where i took the picture for my best of 2011 entry found the image, cropped it and is using it on their page*

I'm famous!!! Someone HAS swiped an image from me!

In fact they are apparently selling it. as a postcard

I don't suppose anyone speaks Hugarian so I can find out what message they put on it?

I've always liked that shot. Glad someone made something off it...

I'm curious about one thing though. Since they apparently have a copyright for it, does that mean I have to delete the original?
01/11/2013 08:46:27 AM · #124
I've just thought of a great challenge:

'Swiped'

Take ANY photo you like after the announcement day/time, and the first one to get swiped wins. Let's let the general public decide what they like best
