Not meaning to be rude here, but can we get this thread back on track?
Wow. Re-read the description, re-read this thread.
My guess is that the picture should be able to have been shot in reality, or the same scene being created digitally - and the voter should have a difficult time figuring out which method was actually used.
At the risk of ruining someone's idea, think of the "running water faucet" - the faucet has no pipe connected to it, but water coming out of it. This can be done in reality, using a transparent pipe going up the center of the water stream. But, it could also be done PP by simply taking a picture of a faucet with running water, and removing the supply pipe.

OK - That is my guess. Am I right? Close? Out in Left Field? Right Field? just out of it?

Not whining here, I would have no right too because I've never suggested a challenge but I do usually pick and choose which ones I enter and probaly will more so in the future.

i wish they'd just ditch basic editing and make it editing and expert editing.

I think something like this would even work. This is 100% real, taken at the zoo, you just can't see the fence.

That's exactly how I interpret the challenge description.

edit to add: I've been surprised by how many people have asked me if I added this rat in Photoshop. Of course, I do realize that the added text would get this image DQ'd.

This will be pretty easy. For obvious reasons. lols.

So should the title ask a question about something specific?

Take this for example -

Title - Zoo or Wild?

Thanks Kelli for the example! :)

I don't think so. I think what people would wonder is if the lion was taken separately and added to a different background. But I don't think you need a question in your title. You just need to leave people wondering about something. JMO of course.

Well then my idea will work then! :)

@dtremain: Fair questions and your assessment is correct. Wasn't that hard was it?
@Janine: true.
@Juliet: agreed.
@jagar: Do you feel the need to announce that you are not going to enter a challenge?
@amster Damn Man: Request granted.
@mike_311: me too, but eh, whatcanyado.
@Kelli: yes, good example.
@yakatme: Excellent example (minus text)

Sure, it's something of a Free Study and the idea is to fool the viewer with either visual illusions and camera tricks or photoshop. Over-the-top PS won't help here - it should be something that looks nearly impossible or highly unlikely, but still could be real.

eta: @marKo: You've been on a roll lately, so I have high expectations. :)

You haven't seen this weeks entries. :/

BUT on the flip side of that... I knew they were not that good as apposed to this time last year I didn't even know what I was doing wrong!

High expectations, huh?
You got it! ;)

Take a look at the last advanced editing blue - Red by elsapo. It doesn't look anything like a cartoon. I thought it was brilliant.

I like that we are given more creative parameters and have more chances to enter, or not, depending on the style, editing rules, etc. I'm quite pleased with the variables these days.

I'm having such a hard time thinking what to shoot for this challenge. Any ideas, tutorials?

Agreed. He also has this gem from a long ago Free Study (Adv Editing):

Which was recently also masterfully done by someone else (can't remember who). If you look through past challenges, you can find lots of non-expert editing examples from graphicfunk, scalvert, Joey Lawrence, and obviously gyaban and others as well. Scenes that look like they had to have been done in expert/PS, but were not. Keep in mind, it can be something very simple like the example Jutilda cited above.

I'm struggling coming up with something for this as well, FWIW.
