That old guys face was great but the slanted composition didn't work as well as i thought at the time. Wonky composition is something i'm going to have to watch as well. Minimal editing is great for that. Here's a crop/edit i did which i like but i do feel it loses some of the spontaneity somewhat.

One day of shooting only, unfortunately.

 My submission:

I had a feeling that the little statue would remind of Giacometti, but it's Matisse pondering on Matisse.

Runner up in my mind (to the last minute)

 Various choices:

What a fun challenge! Both in shooting and in entries!

I was out in CW looking for stories, and I loved this family. Wonderful subjects, wonderful story. I didn't even notice the teddy bear backpack for awhile, and it so added to the charm.

This is my entry: I was so dismayed to find that I had cut off the feet. The funny thing is, in looking through HCBs stuff, a lot of the shots were missing their bottoms. :)

I had other shots that actually had feet and wheel bottoms, but I liked the contrast of the entry and the postures of the subjects.

 Here are the outtakes:

Not really an outtake since it is the same shot that I entered. But I didn't realize until the last moment that this was a minimal edit challenge. This version is the one I had prepared for the challenge using advanced editing.

I thought that was hilarious and gave it a 7, Juli.

Well, here's my un-entered entry. I wanted a bit of grain and it looked good at the time on the LCD, but on later viewing it looked like a gimmicky mess. That's the problem when you've got 30 minutes to shoot. No do-overs, especially when it's straight from the camera. I still like the shot. I just wish I'd had the settings different.

I have a whole lot of outtakes, from the same outing to the Saturday's street fair in Ocean Beach. Most of them suffer from the minimal editing rules though. I am so out of practice shooting jpegs, I should have tested my setting beforehand.

(the last two with advanced editing rather than minimal)

But in the end, I went with this one |

I was told I picked the wrong one. Some of the outtakes are in the photo notes.
