I've been wanting to find a way to make a photo look more like a painting. maybe something along that line.

i saw a painting (i think) the other day in a hotel that amazed me and made me want to find a way to replicate it with a photo. it was a still life shot of food and wine. it was so detailed that i thought it was a photo at first. but as i studied it i realized it was a painting. i'm thinking there must be a way to copy that feel using a photo that doesn't quite look like a photo. does that make sense?

turning a photo into the appearance of a painting is great .. i was also thinking along the lines of finding artworks you had done or photos you had taken that you could 'improve' upon using photoshop .. possibly not that recent but it's probably not that important when it was done or taken ..
maybe put suggestions IN HERE .. :)

Photorealism was never my favorite genre, but it is fun to take a photo & find out how much like a painting it can look. Photoshop has many useful tools for this purpose. It's be a fun side challenge, I think. One of the interesting differences between good PP in photography and good technique in painting is in the use of blacks and whites. When painting pure black and pure white are not seen as faults.

Not to sound like a wet blanket, but not sure I want to see just that for an entire month. Hmmm

I like the Impressionism idea. That way we can do what we want and if it turns out like a painting, so be it. I predict lots of blur if we do that. LOL

I hate that I sounded like an old grump in the previous post. I say "let the paintings begin." I have a still life that MAK did on canvas and it looks just like a painting. There is something about putting almost any image on that stuff that transforms it. I have on a 3' X 4' canvas in our house and it is seriously, VERY painting-like. I'm not sure if it would have the same appeal on paper behind glass.

trying to decide on the 'subject' for the month might be difficult especially when everyone has a different idea ..
maybe we could decide on something we wanted to do for the month but not everyone would be doing the same thing ..
like some might want to turn photos into paintings .. some might want to combine an image and a quote/saying .. others might want to do something else ..
it sounds like a 'whatever' side but only in that ppl would be doing different things from each other ..
thinking of calling it .. 'each to his own side challenge' .. ??
