More variations on a theme. All came from this bit of blur...

LOL - I just realized that Paul and I are both being blurry today.

Shame on you, Alice! The opera is NOT a venue in which one may engage one's frivolous urges; it is serious stuff ;-p

Awww, you're right Bear.
That picture probably wasn't taken in November when I saw Makropulos.

Both of these are from shots I got driving home on dark & stormy nights. I like the light trails & motion blur. Some cameras are better than others for blurry shots. "D The second one is a layered combination of flip'n'blend and Polar Coordinates. They make a nice combo, I think!
I so much admire, & look forward to admiring, all the work I see in this thread. It's very inspiring. I fell asleep with my fingers on the keyboard last night trying to think of something to say in comments. Words pretty much fail me. |

These are all based on my husband, and rust. I did them back in January but didn't get to put them in.

I'm late today because I've been experimenting again (in my spare time, this was a busy day)
Okay, here goes:
These two are ugly but they show a "new to me" trick.
Make, on separate layers, horizontal bands (being sure to select edge to edge) all the way down your masterpiece. Then select each layer and polarize each layer separately. They diminish in size perfectly and you can play with colors, rotation and orientation.
These two practice pieces are just to show the possibilities without the distraction of a pronounced pattern.
Other nuts n bolts: Add white canvas to make original square. At the end, make original editable by double clicking on original. That way you can select what, if any, of the original you want left in the composition.
(This last may be baby-talk, but I had to learn it, so maybe someone else needs to.)
First efforts - and I mean efforts!

I tried out sfalice's new technique. Pretty interesting! I feel the center circle was maybe a mistake, but I like curved lines, so I like this. Thanks!
Then I flipped a few of the layers & applied another polar coordinates.
and then I did this standard flip'n'blend

Using yesterday's method of making circles, I made three of them, on separate layers and then made a pleasing design. After linking them all together with "Merge visible" (the background layer was hidden) I applied the polar coordinates to the result. Then reproduced the resulting knotty pattern 3 more times and rotated & rearranged them a few different ways.
... ...
It constantly amazes me how different styles can affect the same technique.
Pixelpig's compositions are so different and lovely.

But I'll keep an eye on what you all come up with! I would especially appreciate comments on what you did to get the asymetrical stuff I'm seeing from time to time. T\hanks! | \\

constructed from , these two, and
were because of the thought "just let's see what happens 'if'..."
Some effects used? Well, flip/blend, perspective, warp, stretch, distort, who knows what. Oh, yeah, match colors, and more. |

All based on Arum lily leaves, but not on one shot.
