Apparently I haven't been keeping up with my Topaz. I have Topaz Adjust 4 (I think it is). What's Abstract? Clean? Detail? What all am I missing, and do I need to buy myself a Christmas present?

Topaz Detail is another plugin, as is Topaz Clean. "Abstract" is a preset in Topaz Detail. Topaz Detail is probably the most useful of the Topaz family now; it's much less aggressive than Topaz Adjust, and it has a set of complementary color sliders that allow wonderful tonal adjustments. Functionally, it allows you to separately adjust amount of detail and boost in "fine", "medium" and "large" detail areas.
It's really quite extraordinary for the subtlety it's capable of.

I also love denoise, remask, and clean.. They are all very much a normal part of my workflow now on DPC images..
Denoise, well, denoises images, and does it damn well
Clean does some funny stuff with simplification and accentuation
Remask is a quick tri-masking tool that works really, really well - I'll never mask by hand again for the most part.

A subtle use of Topaz adjust to give some natural looking pop to the subject.

I'm going to cheat again and use the same image as my photo a week.
I tried the same technique as a few others did earlier. Four layers of Topaz, two adjust: 100% exposure color stretch, 40% clarity; two layers of detail: 60% creative detail; 30% lithograph.
I also dodged his tail and back a bit to bring out the color in the shadows.

Didn't care for my processing on this one. I'm actually more pleased with the original output from DPP.
