-Topaz Denoise
-Topaz detail. Reduced small detail to smooth sky, raised medium detail to enhance smoke trails. +.23 on cyan/red, -.02 on magenta/green, +.08 on yellow/blue. +.06 on protect shadow.
-Adjust overall color balance slightly warmer
-increased saturation of reds and magentas to help details of plane stand out better.
-High radius USM for cotnrast
-Raise overall saturation
-Crop
-Duplicate
-Reduce red & yellow saturation on lower layer
-Use layers & masking to whiten fuselage & lettering on plane
-High radius USM for more contrast
-Flatten
-Resize
-unsharp mask

I agree. Usually I would have used some Topaz Adjust or Clarify to enhance the smoke. This time I wanted to see if I could get something I liked using Detail, since so many others seem to favor it.

I think you did a GREAT job on the plane! The smoke looks a little too blown out and over saturated for my taste, but overall this is a very dramatic shot.

The most outstanding improvement is what you did to bring out the details in the plane. Much better than the original. Thx for the explanation of your editing.
