Well.....you guys pretty much wore my fat, old, tired butt out, so I came home and will not make the Sunday show.

That said, I cannot begin to state what a fabulous time I had, and I think I got some good stuff.

Here's the last shot of the night for me.......definitely a shocker when I was walking down the sidewalk and the door flew open beside me and this guy strode out with attitude.

You NEVER know who you're gonna see in The City that Never Sleeps.

And Steve may be physically shorter than what he looks here in print, (I'm gonna pay for this comment somehow....LOL!!!) but trust me, when you're in town on his watch, he's truly larger than life. This crew was like herding cats.....with cameras....yet he managed to keep us entertained, busy, and headed in the right direction all day. No small feat!

How to walk your dog in Manhattan...

My best pawdrix emulation attempt....

Pretty happy with this......thanks, Steve! He walked us down this street and this image just screamed B&W to me when I shot it.

Dunno which one of these I like better.....

Chelsea Market was VERY cool! Thanks, Erica!

After al the years together on Team Suck, and many exchanges on and off list, I was thrilled to *finally* meet Deb Melethia to find out that she was every bit as smart, funny, and delightful as I just knew she'd be.

She most certainly is... and for those who might not know it, she started wearing those sun glasses as soon as she saw NikonJeb and that rather flamboyant shirt he had on.

I unfortunately on the other hand did not bring my sunglasses with me, but I am happy to report that my eyes have recuperated and should be okay :O)

This trip was truly one that I will cherish and am not likely to forget.

One the first day my 5D Mk II decided to act up, kept giving me an Error 20 message and decided not to work anymore. To the rescue came Hot_Pixelwho generously offered the use of his spare camera.

The next day, I took my D40, made certain everything worked, that the battery was charged and headed off to meet the fellow DPCers at the scheduled rendez-vous point. And what do you suppose happened when I tried to take my first shot...yes indeed it failed to function. Luckily, it did function a tad later in the day.

On my trek back to the Ottawa area, I happened to sport a really nice barn and got out to take a photo of it... what could possibly go wrong. Well, somehow I managed to lock my keys in my car... on a Sunday... on a rural road in the middle of nowhere... can you say GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I did get to meet a very nice elderly couple who entertained me while we waited for a tow truck.

All in all, I will truly remember this weekend... not for my troubles, but rather for all the truly wonderful people I met.

Thank you everyone,

Ray

just made it home (NYC---------------------------------------------------->SD)

What a terrific weekend! I am so glad I came and seized a once-in-a-lifetime chance of meeting all of you guys in one space-time location. Thanks to Steve for coming up with the idea and seeing it through.

Great photos are starting to crop up, I am enjoying browsing though them so much!

I'm back home now and just wanted to say that this was a FANTASTIC GTG!!! Thank you Steve ( pawdrix) for putting together a really spectacular weekend! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and thoroughly enjoyed meeting new and old friends. ;-) (I'm still savoring that scrumptious meal you arranged for us on Friday night too Steve - WOW & YUM!)

To everyone in attendance: It was so cool to meet some of the members that I've known and respected for years now (just never met). And it was terrific to see people that I haven't seen face-to-face in a while. Thank you all for sharing your lives & experiences & stories - it means more than you'll ever know. I learned a lot this weekend from some very wonderful people.

To Skip ( skip): Thank you dude from the bottom of my heart for encouraging me to make the trip! It was a blast (and my ribs still hurt from laughing so hard)!

To everyone who didn't attend: YOU REALLY MISSED OUT!!! We had fun; we met &/or reconnected with DPC friends; we learned a lot of useful stuff from each other; and we got to do what we love most - take tons of photos in a culturally rich environment. HAHA! What could be better?!?

I'll do my best to post some pix tomorrow and comment on the spectacular shots that have already been posted from this gathering. Good going gang! I'm humbled by the talent already shown in y'all's images and can't wait to see more!

I must say that I now feel re-energized about photography in general and my own personal goals. Until next time!

OMG... how did I ever manage to get myself implicated in a Waterdrop Shot? Skip scammed me. Very clever....very clever...
