We could probably write a book about all the things wrong with this, hahaha. Needless to say, at the least, that I attempt to meet challenges now. *scratches head*

I liked that one. Some bit of mystery and foreboding feel, to me anyway. I was one of your 6s.

- 3.7463 - This was the second image I ever entered, I didn't have any clue how this site worked or what was/wasn't allowed. I don't what I was thinking when I took some of my first few shots.

3.938 Second entry... Theme was garbage.

- theme was Silhouettes. I can't say I was surprised though as it wasn't a very good shot. 3.9483

I liked the shot actually. I guess we're the only ones who had the eye to see it as it is/was. ;\

My 36th challenge scored a 4.9609

I believe that the biggest problem was it was too washed out and I found that after I ran it through Topaz Denoise it cleaned up ALOT of noise.

---> 4.0238 only one away from the brown; still don't think it deserved that low a placement!

I forgot to post this when I posted my worst score in the Pet Portrait IV seen above - just a little ribbon to mark the occasion and add humor to it.

If anyone wishes to use it they may

4.4497, I thought this would be at least a 5, instead, my lowest score here...

My actual lowest score is a 3.8394, which was hardly surprising.

For the Signature Styles Challenge I submitted a similar image to one I shot long ago. I found the results to be a little dissapointing... but realized that voters seemed to be more generous in 2003/2004 proven by somebodies bar chart I saw somewhere in the forums recently.

Original Image:

Challenge: Simplicity (Classic Editing)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix 3800 (3.2 MP Point and Shoot)
Place: 99 out of 262
Avg (all users): 5.5314

Re-Shoot

Challenge: Signature Style (Advanced Editing*)
Camera: Canon EOS-450D Rebel XSi (12.2 MP consumer DSLR)
Place: 158 out of 191
Avg (all users): 5.0711

Lesson Learned:

Each Challenge is an individual entity. Something that does well in one place might not do so well in others. I self-critique by looking at where I placed in the challenge and compare my photo to the photos that are grouped around me and ask myself the question: Do I desereve to place here? If I can honestly answer yes, then I look at the photos that scored higher and honestly critique my own submission and make note of what I can do to try to reach a little higher the next time. If I think I was robbed, I place my photo with the group where I feel it should have placed and repeat by looking at those that placed higher and try to do better next time. (Of course I am a competitive person and want to win in the competitions. I am beginning to just shoot for enjoyment though!)
