 I finally figured out how to get a nice white background. I used the back of some christmas wrapping paper, lit from above and 45 degrees to left with 60 watt incandescent bulbs in a room with bright windows behind and to the right of studio table.

A longer exposure produced good whiteness, a shorter exposure made the background grey. I achieved exposure control by adjusting the EV settings on the finepix 3800 and focused the AE on different areas of the frame to achieve different aperture settings.

Post processing includes adjusting contrast, greyscaling and cropping/resizing.

The shoes were a good idea. I personally think that two shoes are more than necesary. Only one will be ok to me. But was a good shot.

Very clean image. Solid backgroun and nice grey scale accross the shoes. One of my favorites for this challenge.

Voters should not boot this one.

Nice composition, great idea, nicely lit; no real hot spots, and a nice soft shadow on the right. A bit too much white for me, personally. Perhaps just a little tighter crop on the left would help?

I love shoes. They are very shapely and interesting to look at. This piece is nice because it is naturally black and white, very simple.
