I have a request from the Internal Medicine docs on the other side of our practice for a picture of an oak tree suitable for a thank you postcard. My guess is they are thinking of a shot like the idyllic lone oak in a field. However, other shots might work as well. I'm guessing a few dozen will be printed and I don't have anything in my collection that fits.

If you have a shot you think would work, post it here. If I find something good I'd be happy to spring for a gift membership if we could use it. I'd need an original that's at least 1800 pixels on the long side (looking to print somewhere between 3x5 and 4x6).

Anybody interested?

No oaks here, but I have a very nice Copper Beech:

Is that an oak tree in this photograph? ...

Not sure if this is an oak tree, but if it works for your purpose, you are welcome to use it.

The first one has thumbnails in it to some similar shots I have on Flickr.

How about a Japanese Maple? This is one of my personal faves.

Maybe one of these will work

jdannels has some really nice oaks in his collection (including one of the same oak in the first pic above).

Here's another that might work, if I dial the processing way back

I can clone out the power lines if this will work ...

here are a few that might work. For the sunflower shot, I can certainly dial back the colors! The IR ones are a little different than the norm.

A couple more recent ones ... I also have a couple of other views (slightly different framing) of this one.

If this can wait until tomorrow evening, I will see what I can find. I saw the right tree today, but the light has to get right.

I like the oaks!
You could ask Coley too, for his favorite Oak.

One of my favorite trees ever.

This is on my mom's ranch in East Texas. It is a magnificent specimen. The photo does not do justice to the majesty of this tree.

You are welcome to use this any way you wish.

If this is something like what you had in mind, we have thousands of them here, in fact, so many that it is difficult to find one that is standing alone. I know where I may be able to get some better shots of larger trees, where the cows have trimmed the bottom limbs off flat.
This was yesterday evening. The sun came under the clouds just as it was about to set, so the light isn't all that good.

I think that I'm going to have to take a pic of an oak that will work for you, win the gift membership, and then donate it back to you so that we can all appreciate your DPC portfolio again.

What happened?

Not sure this is an oak, but at the time of the year it was taken... didn't matter too much.
