Week 2 - At home. Another picture of Klaus happy about getting a new toy. Criticism welcome. Thanks to those that put the shot in a folder with your theme name or have the theme in your post.

Just in case you were waiting on pins and needles for me to bust out my 50mm prime for a year...I changed my mind. I'll be going with mono/duotones! :)

Bird A Week - Week 2

"Keeping and eye on you"

Cape Weaver - woodland, savanna, reedbeds, farmland, urban areas. Common resident in South Africa.

and

"Say cheese!"

Here are the babies! Not technically so great- was very dark in there, but I thought it was something unusual to show you all!
Those things that look like yellow cheeks are actually the eyes (still blind at this stage).

oh, and apologies for not having commented yet- only have proper web access again from this week and brand new to the site, so I'll be commenting from now on.

This is a terrible photo, but someone asked what the male red bishop's front looked like from week 1- so here it is, just to show you.

Pity- I can't seem to access 'here'- some technical from my side maybe, but thought I'd let you know in case others have trouble too.

My work's net nanny is blocking it. I'll try again at home later.

Thank you very much for the great comments and 2 favs. There were some questions about processing. Processing was done minimal, quick and crappy. Here is the original.

I also updated the photo page with the camrea setting.

May be I should have saved this for monthly free study, don't know.

Week 3 for me.

Used a bit of over the top processing for fun.

Week 3

This is an image I shot back in April 2008, but in color it just never make the mountain range pop the way I envisioned. I had played with a bit and then never went back to it. I went back the other day and pulled it out to try a good B&W edit on. I now love this image.

Hey John I'm having no luck trying to post my comment there, so here's the cut & paste:

I do like it for the most part, John. The processing seems fine over the left side of the photo, that is, the leaf in the foreground. The water drops look so real I could touch them and get my finger wet. Where it begins to detract in my opinion is the edge of the leaf, that long vertical bright yellow line from top to bottom. Interesting work, glad you chose to share it.

Sigh. Like I said in the other thread, I haven't even found the time to take a photo for my own PAW, business is going great and eating time. Catching up 3 weeks isn't gonna work with the still-lifes I had in mind, so my chance at PAW is over :(

But: I'm glad I was able to motivate a huge list of people to do a PAW too. It really is much fun and I hope you guys are gonna love it as much as I loved it last year :)

Sorry about that, seems some people it will allow to post, others it gives loss of session errors. I've run out to talent trying to fix it.
Thanks for the comment!

Terrific news for your business, Hanneke.
Obviously, you can cut yourself all the slack in the world, including just starting around Easter time if that's what it takes.
Work coming first is one of those sneaky tricks the real world plays on us...
