Guitar Hero is the bomb, and Wii Sports is super fun as well.

yeah you can download it. there are also videos and previews and the like. the Wii has it's own internet browser if you download and install it. it runs opera i believe...

I just got a wii and I thought I had to have a disk for games.

Get her "Cooking Mama" for your anniversary and you'll never have this problem again.

The Lego games are great fun for multiple players. Lego Star Wars is phenominal. Lego Batman is also fun. My wife & I didn't love Lego Indiana Jones.

Is there any way to get back data that was erased on the Wii?

I ask because my 6yr old son accidentally erased his "drivers license" on Mario Kart. He had completed numerous levels and unlocked some cool stuff. Needless to say, he's pretty upset about it.

What if you create another drivers license with the same name? Any other tricks?

Thanks.

did he delete his mii? I read something about that just before that if you erase the mii it deletes the records that go with it and there is no way to recover them.

I don't know enough about the Wii...I think yes, in answer to your question.

I'm thinking...the Wii is basically a mini-computer with a hard drive, yes?

Why couldn't I use a recovery tool like Lexar Image Rescue? There's a SD slot...

I am totally new to the Wii, just got it today. So what I said earlier is directly from the wii manual. I know nothing further on the topic. Have you checked out the nintento website for FAQs? Id be willing to bet that this sort of thing happens alot.

Yeah...I'm still looking. I just spent some time poking around on our Wii; his Mii is still there, it's the Mario Kart License that is gone.

how exactly did he go about deleting it ?

nintendo seems to be content with making things complicated/convoluted././.

on the other hand - it likely took a number of clicks"" to actually delete the license...

I think he just wasn't paying close enough attention. I feel kinda bad because he was trying to create a license for me (I didn't know it at the time). Unfortunately there's a limit of 4 licenses you can have for Mario Kart. So, to answer your question, I'm not sure exactly how he did it, but he did. :-(

I haven't found a way to recover this data. Frustrating because there's a SD slot and USB port access... I'm certainly not the first to venture down this path as this question has been asked numerous times I've found while searching.

Here's a decent Q/A link I found for Mario Kart: Mario Kart Wii Answers/Question List

Ah well, time for bed I guess. At least my son finally fell asleep. He was really, really upset. He's had so much fun beating his teenage siblings. I'm sure he'll get back on top fairly soon. :-)

The Wii does not have a hard drive, no. It has a basic internal memory storage for its channels and proprietary operating system and some game storage, but it doesn't have an accessible hard drive like your basic computer would have. Because it runs a proprietary operating system, regular programs will not work, thus you would not be able to use file recovery programs on it.

The only way to recover data loss would be to send the system to Nintendo, but I do not think they do that unless there's a system failure. Accidental deletions are pretty much "c'est la vie".

The USB ports are for peripherals that the OS can recognize, but are very limited. The SD slot is basically for storing extra Virtual Console/Wiiware/Wii shop games and programs when you fill up the Wii's primary storage, and for photo transfers.

Brain Age Acadamy is great for family with kids since it adjusts to the players level. We personally like Dokapon Kingdom, it's a board game on the wii but it's like a RPG. Another family favorite is Harvest Moon, now this one can become extrememly addictive. My Sims is another personal favorite.

Couple of questions.

First, Is it just me or does the web browser on the wii suck bad. Anyone know how to get it to fit the screen proper, It gives 2 choices one that you have to scroll all over the place to see the entire page and the other that totally rearranges the page making normal viewing imposible.

Two, Anyone play African Safari? I grabbed it out of the bargain bin at Walmart today, Looks like it will be fun for my kids, But because it is a photography game I might just spend some time on it myself, pending on what others think about the game.

the browser isn't the greatest. not sure - but you might be able to mess with the font settings. maybe a smaller font would allow less scrolling.

it works alright for the wii content. but regular web browsing is sort of better left to the laptop...

the only sites I tried on it were DPC and Google, lol Google appeared as it should but DPC was all wacked, I think it has to do with the wii browser not supporting frames. hopefully they will have some upgrades in the future especially considering they charge extra for that cheezy browser.

I tried the Wii for the first time last weekend...I was sore all week from Wii Tennis. I think this says something about my physique...lol!!

I win at Wii Golf tho. Totally only got 5 over par. The other people I was playing with got 17 and 21 over, respectively.

I've beat the Wii pro at tennis right handed and have made pro at Wii Bowling right handed. I play doubles with myself in tennis. I like the control. LOL Next is to create a new Mii with a computer generated partner.

I've set up a separate Mii for left handed playing. OMG is tennis slow as you build up experience.

Best family game system out there!! Don't waste your money on Wii fit. The board is cool but don't expect to get fit using it. My son just got Star Wars Clone Wars Lightsaber Duel. My arm is sore now. Great game if you are a Star Wars fan. Gerneral Grievous is the bomb!! 4 lightsabers.. Muuhoohaahaa. Oh, and my fat ass can play it sitting down. I just hate getting my butt kicked by an 11yo.

Wii Virtual Console games are pretty cool.

I'm in the middle of Zelda Link to the Past and my son is playing Donkey Kong Country 2.
Had to start Donkey Kong Country again as my granddaughter visited and erased our game,
just when we had almost collected all the coins in most of the levels ...AAARGH!.............
