Many of us look forward each week to KarenNfld's post of the "Member of the Week" - someone whose portfolio is highlighted. I know I've enjoyed following along - it's offered me the chance to see the work of some folks I might not have otherwise seen, and to revisit the portfolios of some I know well. I think she's provided a wonderful service to the DPC community!

Let's repay her generosity, folks!

With no specific timeframe, just Member of..., I present the work of Karen Chappell, KarenNfld, a very accomplished photographer with a great eye for composition and light. She has a very adept touch at processing - everything she does appears polished and professional. And to me, her greatest gift is her ability to infuse her photography with gentleness, richness and life.

(And by the way, her last three challenge entries have all been top ten!)

I'll post some of my favorites from her portfolio, and as she says in the weekly posts, "leave some comments and most of all post one or two of their photos in this thread so others can see them and enjoy them. If you like you can also write a little blurb saying why you enjoy this member's photos."

And a really cool idea - composites of her first 150 challenge entries:

Why doesn't it surprise me that you were the one to think of this :)

Wonderful idea, and about time too! She'd have never chosen herself.

great idea, and it is great work, as an aside i would love to know how to make those composites....perhaps a tutorial is in order?

Well, if anyone is deserving of that recognition, it's certainly Karen! Member of the year, perhaps?

wooah.. woah.

We're only allowed to nominate ourselves as member of the year.

It's the only decent, DPC thing to do.

Shame on you for being selfless.

Oh, and guess what - I fourth that :) :) . I guess this is just some simple Photoshop with borders and whatnot, but I'd still love a tutorial!

How very wonderful that Karen's being recognized for her photography and for her good works here for us. They are both wonderful.

Thanks, Karen!

Thank you Deb and everyone else for you kind comments.......I am flattered!!

To those wishing to know how to make the collages, I have a program called "FotoFusion" that does it all for me. The program cost about $100.

Karen's work is awesome and her dedication to photography is to be admired. Her PAD since 2006 is amazing!

A wonderful idea for this thread, Deb! I started following Karen's Photo-a-Day in 2006, and I have always been impressed with how polished every shot is! I have no idea how she finds the time to keep up with the PAD, enter so many challenges, and still contribute to DPC in such a positive way. A well deserved tribute thread! :)

I appreciate the fact that Karen uses very little Post Processing techniques. Some of my faves from way back:

And a couple of new ones:

ETA: CONGRATULATIONS KAREN!! :)

Not only an extremely talented photographer but an exceptional member of our community. Few can match her contribution to this site. Congrats Karen and were all very lucky to have you here. I'm going to post a few but she has tons of great shots.
