Hi All,

Having been speaking to a few people about my shot for the recent "Money" challenge it seems that quite a few didn't see the MONEY word in the reflection (a couple didn't realise it was a reflection either).

If you voted in this challenge (and maybe those that didn't too) please take a look and let me know if you saw (see) it and whether your vote would have been different had you seen it if you did not originally...

Any CC greatly appreciated as well

Yes I saw the word, no I didn't realize it was a reflection. I gave it a 6, doubt my vote would have changed had I known it was a reflection.

Thanks Karen, that helps actually, I am trying to figure out how much I need to ram an images message down the throat of DPC voters hehe, from the replies so far it looks like subtlety is not the way to go LOL.

I did not see it before...and didn't realize it was a reflection...

Don't anyone change your vote or you might bump ME!!

That didn't sound right.

Well the thread is not so much about the score or placing to be honest, I am more interested in whether people "got it" or not - so I can gauge subtlety issues in the future, I worked for quite a while positioning lights and getting the best angle for the reflection but if the majority are not going to see it for whatever reason (be it speed of voting, or poor story telling from me) then I may as well channel that energy elsewhere :)

Hey Mark... I didn't vote in the challenge, so I'm a fresh set of eyes. My first impression is "stack of nickels". The word definitely jumps out with the highlights, so I would assume that most people caught that - but it's hard to tell that it's a reflection, even when I knew to look for one. IMO - the lighting is just too consistent to see the split. Maybe if there was a different (darker?) light to the lower half, or a slightly offset angle to the reflection itself. Something to help lead the viewers eyes to the split would be a good element.

Thanks Rob,

Yeah it's kind of weird as I wasn't really sure whether to make it obvious as a reflection or not. The problem was I wanted the word to really stand out and the fact that was achieved in the reflection plus trying to really get it to pop meant the reflection needed to be really well lit, I think in hindsight maybe the word should have been on top and coming downwards and the reflection a little lighter so as to show it for what it is.

I did not see the word when voting. If I had I would have given it a 10. Just kidding :) I gave it a 6 and probably would have kept it at a 6.

After going through about 4/5ths of the Free Study entries for October, I think almost all of DPC has decided that deer win ribbons. ai yi yi ;D

Saw the word, thought it was well executed, gave it a seven. Thought the upside down letters were a little harder to see than desirable, but did not guess reflection. My entry came in just a couple of positions lower than yours. I would have placed yours much higher than 25th.
