I didn't know that link existed! So the images are downsized, and images larger than xxx have a link to fullsize? What are the limits for images before they're downsized?

640px I believe, such a shame, as the smaller photos really kill the detail of most shots.

That is the link. View full-sized image. It should open to I think a 1500x900 image or so.

We need to test that. I have some in my portfolio that are 780 wide (thought the max was 1000) and they aren't showing a 'Link to Full Size'.

You are right, I'm not sure how big they go, I assumed it was the standard 640 standard size that was used for prints. But I do have some 800x600 and they dont have the link. So I'm not really sure. Maybe it is 1000. But even at 1000 the detail isnt as nice on images as it is for say 1500 and up. Of course it helps that I'm using a 22 inch monitor, I would imagine that smaller monitors might have alot of scrolling to do.

It's just magic how the "full size" link works. I would guess that posting images that size would eat up portfolio space, as well as opening them to being picked off from the web page to make prints.
It certainly is nice though, to be able to click a link to show them larger than the 640 max size that is normal for portfolio images. I agree that the small size makes it difficult to share an image that has it's strength in the details.
ETA, Maybe this discussion needs it's own thread so that it does not clutter up the S C thread.

Depending on your web browser, you might have to click on the image which is displayed after you click 'view full size image' to get it to actually display at full size.

Mine are 900 or 950 (somewhere around there) usually, and they have the link. It makes a HUGE difference!

Here's one I so nearly entered for the play challenge "Don't play with your food" but I am sure there would be plenty of votes against it due to it's subject matter :(

I believe the maximum size for in your portfolio is 800x800 and has been since at least the summer of 2006. After that you get the link.

So far I've only been playing with an old point-and-shoot for this challenge, as the only lens that I can produce decent macros with is my Sigma 70-300mm, which is my least favourite lens and one I hardly ever use. I will have to make some time to do something better, but for now, here is my first p&s offering:

I will be back soon to do some commenting.

I won't keep going at this rate, as I've got a very busy time
coming up, but these were so much fun to do, that I kept going on them.

I had a nice set piece all ready to go,

Until I decided to introduce the little snail that followed me
home on a pomegranate, here... and here
