Do any of the upload-and-order-prints sites offer a postcard option? Image station doesn't. Or is there a better source for getting postcards made in quantities of say 25-50 per image?

My local Eckerd Drug Store prints digital photos on paper that has a postcard back. Their normal price is $0.39 per print.

Really loved the one sample I've had done. You get to write them and address them too - its all printed on the envelope.

Cost is $1.10 which includes the double sided print and mailing it anywhere in the world. Think you get one free as a sample too.

Uh ... there's no envelope that I can see, but they claim that the way the print the address/permit there's no cancellation step by the USPS so it should stay in relatively good shape.

It's an especially good value if you're just sending a card or two, in the time saved now going to the Post Office.

You get one free card -- they suggest sending it to yourself as a quality-check sample.

Should we look into a cross-licensing deal with them? DPCers want postcards; they use "stock images."

I usually just upload my own pictures. And yes, there is no envelope - its a postcard!

I used to deal with Amazingmail for a business I worked at. They do give volume discount pricing - it might be worthwile to check into a cross licensing deal.

They use stock images if you don't have any you want to use.

I was more thinking of them making our (DPC Prints) images as stock images for their other customers.

Gotcha! That's a good idea too :-)

That's a good idea for DPCPrints to get some exposure and perhaps generate print sales. But I doubt if there is room enough in their pricing structure to pay the photographer much of a royalty. Would you want our images available to their customers without a fair return to our photographers?

They are only selling a 4x6 (minus border). I don't think there's much profit margin in 4x6 prints at DPC either ... but I can see someone who gets a postcard possibly buying a larger print from DPC. So, yes, I could see taking a 5-10 cent royalty per image printed, much like the composer's royalty for a CD.

I'm more dubious that there's that much of a market for those, I suspect 90% of the cards have custom photos, except maybe corporate sales cards. But if some company picks up your image for a mailing of a few thousand ads it should be a pretty good payoff.

A royalty fee of 5 to 10 cents per use would be within the range I would call a fair return.
