there was a request of sfalice for the original of my post of the motorcycle a few pictures back in this thread
here it is

the picture
i took it in a museum and its not much of a shot as you can see
fairly ugly artificial (bulb)light, a bit gritty (400 asa), and slightly off focus (1/4s handheld)
no way i would bore people with a shot like this, but than again maybe a nice challenge to layer it and try to make something out off it (isnt that what layers are for;)

the texture (i took it that same day in this museum, but outdoors)
i never use more than one texture at a time in any layered picture i ever posted, nor did i ever use a prefab texture (ofcourse no sin to do so, its just there are so many to find yourself and its fun to collect them)
i just make sure the parts to obscure in the original picture doesnt contain to much detail that would matter
next step and most timeconsuming is, i use the eraser to make the parts come out that does matter
sometimes afterwards i use the acid filter on the whole lot to get a somewhat more homogene endresult (but always fool around with the colours of this procede to adjust them to my taste)

well, so here i revealed about all the 'secrets' to my peepees

ps: i uploaded the texture in big size, and ofcourse its free for use

Well, you know, this is just magical. Thank you so much, messerschmitt for posting your intermediate pictures and steps, outlined in your earlier post. I don't know about the others, but I learned a whole lot from your explanation.

great work.

Thanks for sharing your technique. I never would have guessed the extent of the overlay or how you had used it.
