Well, I have to admit that describes my entry. This time around I chose one that fits a cliche that I have seen do well time and again. The one I thought was unique would probably be doing in the high 4's right now. Winning here is about broad appeal, but a starting score in the low 6's tells me you have it. (It seems that your "lousy" score is my "high" one!)
You also need to interpret things a bit. I came in close to the bottom in "Point of color", but I consider it a successful entry, nonetheless. When I look at the voting breakdown, I can see it appealed to 25 people who gave it a 6 or better, and had more high votes (but more low ones as well) than some shots that averaged slightly higher.
Climbing slow and steadily.

I thought this entry was better than my "weathered" entry...but almost a whole point lower. Everyone voting this morning seems to be hitting the first couple of numbers they see.

After quickly glancing over the photos, there are really some terrific shots in this challenge!

I'm having a bit of a run of poor scores, but it doesn't really matter as I personally really like my photo. Still curious as to why it is sitting in my bottom 10% or so, as I thought it quite strong both technically and in terms of composition. It may well be that I am not seeing what the viewers are, so hopefully I shall get some more comments to steer me in the right direction.

The colours don't look so good on here, and I now realise my subject was maybe too abstract :( I'm still learning so wish that if people vote lower than a 5 they give a comment on what the photo needs to improve it.

| I am in amazement how many people have voted my shot below a 5 when the input I received was good. I didnt expect it to win a ribbon, but I certainly didnt expect it to be doing this bad. |

| I think in mine, the title might be causing more harm than good. Personally I wish there was a way to leave a black title. I would leave all my shots with blank titles to minimized voter misinterpretation. |

Well, this is my first challenge back in a couple of months, so I'm happy so far to be doing good:

But I will say, I've seen MAK's (not voting on it tho. . of course), and seeing what he is posting as his score is a TRAVESTY! There is something terribly wrong in voterland if his photo is in the low 6's!!!!! And I'm not even believing it could drop below 6. Surely the voters couldn't be missing it THAT badly!!!

I am pleased with my score, i thought it would be miniumlistic, but it has surprised me. And it has no bright cheerful crap in it either!
Love, I do think that you will be hearing of this phrase many many times in this challenge.
