Wow, a lot of folks playing along!
I'll be stunned if this breaks 5.5 in the end, but so far it's doing fine. This was a case of not being able to really see my own entry until after rollover.

Started at 6 briefly reached the lofty height of 6.4 and now is back where it started :)
I expect a 5.5 again if the trends from recent challenges continue. |

Do you think a landscape crop is a DNMC in this challenge? Certainly shouldn't be. The image cannot be a landscape, not the crop. |

100% agree. The use of the word Landscape as a description for paper orientation came quite recently with the advent of desktop office packages (eg Word/Excel etc) Historically it was known as horizontal and vertical (in fact, my photography tutor in Chicago still refers to them in this way).

I intentionally changed my orientation so a stickler voter wouldn't bring it down based on that alone. My shot looked better in landscape, but I redid it just for the hell of it.
I typically move down as the voting progresses. This time it is moving upward. I still can't figure this place out. :-/ |

| I'm gonna be mega pissed if I get DNMC comments for a landscape oriented crop. (I'm fully expecting my entry to not do very well, but that's because I polished a turd! Feel free to comment on my over sharpening, over processing, or any damn thing except the crop! lol) I don't know what I'll do, but it'll be mean and nasty. Like stomp my feet and yell at my monitor. Something like that. You've all been warned... |

Interesting voting - I received a 10, 7, few 6 votes, lots of 5 votes, and a 2. It's better than a 2, and there is now way this one is DNMC. |

Well I haven't voted yet, but it was pretty clear to me when I read the description that it could be interpreted either way and I choose to play it safe and make sure the orientation was not landscape. I could see how you might think it only implies the subject but that's not how it reads.

| I don't know what happened here on DP, they must have imported some really near sighted voters just for fun. I'm getting tired putting anything up... they can just write in 4. somethings and I'll save my time and energy.
