Hey everyone I am finally back home from my trip, I should be commenting on some pictures very soon (as soon as I catch up some paper work) but I thought I would let you all know that I have posted my steps on this picture...

Well, today's picture(s) are a Double Before and After
The rocks just before the wave hit, and just after.
This splendid Pacific coastline is just south of San Francisco (maybe 60 miles)on a stretch
of two-lane road (Highway One) that parallels the ocean through most of California.

DAY 15 - What a daisy! (even if it's a pansy)

Sometimes a simple crop and removal of distracting background can do wonders...

I just couldn't keep my hands off this lovely flower.

Here's more of an explanation of my comment on your very nice image, love.

This is really quick and not very clean editing, but sometimes a picture is the best way to explain...

When I have an image as clean as this one is, it's fairly easy to slip a new layer under it with soft colors that can be found in more bold hues in the object of interest. Vary the opacity, blending modes, etc. See what happens. PLAY

With permission from njsabs2323, who is responsible for this remarkable photograph, I am posting an "after" for an absolutely wonderful before. I have been colorizing B&W pictures as a sort of hobby. This was such a wonderful shot, I just had to touch it.

njsabs2323, thank you again for the picture and the permission.

As shot .................. As entered ......... As I Colorized

It's been three days since I've been in here, and boy do I have some commenting to do! I'll be all over that this evening. For now, here's some shots from a great weekend at the beach! All were very basic edits and would work under that rule set I think.

I've asked a few this question in individual comments, but It would be nice to see in most peoples photos in this thread.

The pictures with the dramatic changes from before to after--did you "see" the finished product and know you were going to get there, or did you just experiment around until you got something you were happy with?

This is an excellent question and one in which I considered opening a new thread. As for me, most of my editing is intended to put into a picture that which I left out either by accident or because of the inability to do it at the time. My wife often rebukes me because I say something like: "Don't worry, I will put it in, or take it out, later." I will often times take a picture with the idea that it is only a part of what I have in my head at the time.

It is rare that I take a picture that I feel serves the purpose for which intended, and try to transform it into something else. I guess my brain just doesn't work that way. Sometimes I wish it did.

If there is an interest in this particular subject, perhaps someone would start a discussion thread.

My portfolio is full and I cant upload any new images until I decide which images I want to delete. So until then I may be a bit slow on showing more here.

I shot this on Sunday in the studio and processed it with a cuppla beers on Sunday evening. Its the beers that give it that kick :)

Careful there is lots of female skin.... but all the main bits are hidden :)

I am so delinquent in my posting.. fill in the excuse of your choice here. Anything you guys come up with would probably be so much more exciting than the reality. But anyway, here are some postings to get myself out of the doghouse:
