Who says this place isn't fun? People arguing about their beliefs, trying to prove or dis-prove things that can not be proven or dis-proven, one religion claiming to be better then another, quotes from magical books... Does it get more amusing or fun? When can we stone someone?

I must admit all this has become my daytime soap, I'm eating it up:) I just need some popcorn.

Let's quote a famous philosopher.....

Bear, how do you know this?

"are exactly what Jesus would have chosen "

This is your idea of what he wanted, not what he actually wanted, no one can be sure of what he really wanted, right?

If you read the entire sentence you just used out of context, you'd know he was expressing an opinion.

why isn't this thread locked, yet? It's WAY off topic.

Good Lord! No wonder Tim's turned off the forums!

I'm confused -- if God is all-powerful, then of what can God possibly be jealous? If God is the one and only God, then what are these other gods of which God is jealous? If they don't exist, then for God to reference them they must be hallucinations of God, no? Maybe God needs a course of anti-schizophrenic medication ....

And why do I think that? By all biblical accounts, He was a humble man, not given to pomp and ceremony; indeed, He seems to have been opposed to it...

Oh, you KNOW that makes no sense :-)

In context, the Lord came to Moses and gave him these Commandments because He saw, He knew, that the people had lost sight of him and were worshiping idols and false gods. He said "No more of this BS, I'm not going to stand for it any longer!", and so forth and so on it went. According to the Bible, of course... It has bushwah-all to do with schizophrenia :-) The Lord is saying "Stop making up gods of your own, it's pissing me off!" Jealous, spiteful, full-of-Himself, possibly. But hallucinating? Come ON!

this thread has gotten *very* off topic, and ironically, has gone in the very direction the OP was lamenting. Threadjacking is serious business, guys. Please respect a topic, even if its in rant. Thanks.

Alrighty... I kinda think OP probably is laughing about this, the irony (as someone pointed out) is palpable, but I'll stop witht he responses, thus doing *my* part...

I promise I won't start a Catholic vs Protestant rant here, but if you really want to know, go to a local parish and ask a preist. I did and it was enlightening. Not that I necessarily agreed or disagreed with everything he had to say, but it was a very matter of fact discussion about history, faith, dogma, etc. from someone who lives it every day and has 8+ years of education on the matter. You (meaning anyone) could also do this for any religion.

I had a great conversation with one of our DPC members who's a pastor for a non-Catholic congregation. This was also enlightning. Especially when he talked about his friendships and dealings with Catholic preists. (I won't call him out by name, he can reply if he wants to jump in)

My only point was anyone that thinks Catholic aren't "true Christains" because they are Catholic is way off the mark.

And BTW - This place still is fun!! ;-)

scrbrd -- your post is off topic. Please start another thread if you feel you must continue your thoughts somewhere. I ask for your co-operation in not threadjacking this thread any further.

In the first words in the post I promised not to go any further, and I don't want to start another rant thread on the topic. There are enough already.

And I tried to bring back on topic to the "used to be fun" thing.

Geez, frisca, surely I'm not the most egregious offender in these threads that you have to call me out. And if you do call me out, at least spell my user name correctly.

Just another example of the man, or in this case, the woman, trying to silence the voice of . . . oh nevermind.

In case it wasn't obvious, I'm joking and mean no offense. ;-)

sorry for the typo, but you posted AFTER my warning, so I wanted to let you know that I am moderating and trying to keep things on track. If you had just kept it on topic, I would not have said a word. Coming back is a nice idea, but forgetting the threadjack and staying on topic would have been better.

I lock these threads every time they came up, but this one slipped through for abit. I feel you keegbow, I left the forums too for a month with the exception of the black and white a week thread. Unfortunately no one noticed. :P It'll be good for you. I have no interest in anyone's personal testimonies, calling on any groups to hang out and/or bash some other groups beliefs, unnecessary rudeness and mockery, arguments that just seem to go in circles, over and over again. You are not going to change someone's world view on the DPC Rant forum... You don't agree, just get over it. I never used to ignore threads, now I have probably ignored over a dozen, I can't imagine what the forums look like if they were unblocked. I almost didn't renew my membership a week ago but of course relented to the update button, but last time I renewed it was because of the forums too. Remember the ignore thread option when you come back Tim.

So long as you don't stop taking photos too keegbow. Remember, the Ignore Thread option is very useful!

Why can't Rule #6 be "No Thread-jacking"?

The Forums will be the death of DPC. DPC has certainly 'lost' a lot because of them (respect in the photographic community, respect of fellow members (and SC), good photographers, members, registered users, SC, etc). Ignorance is not bliss - what you are ignoring does not go away.

So by your own logic, it is entirely on topic ?
