SDW you and me and fat buster buddies as we both have major aches adn pains, you more than me but we can both do this!!!
I should not have had 4 cups of coffee with two teaspoons of sugar each and full fat milk for breakfast.
Tommorrow I am going to to do without the sugar.
I am giving up my favorite orange soda for diet orange soda (I hate how diet sodas taste, so will be giving them up soon as well)
I am going to make some of my favorite salads, with green leaves, grapes, blue cheese and nuts and as it is so tasty I will make sure that I do not eat enough for 10 people.
I am going to have to drink water, I also dislike the taste of water since i was pregnant, so dont drink it at all.
So those are my first weeks goals.

I started off this morning with a lighter breakfast. For lunch, some fruit. It's been ice water today for me. I about to have 4 oz. of coke to keep my sanity... I may need to clarify - 4 oz. of coca~cola. :P -Now I have to push myself to do my half mile walk.
I can't believe I'm not hungry in the least bit. I guess the kiwi and cantaloupe helped.
I haven't decided on what for dinner tonight but I know it will be much earlier than I'm used to eating, probably around 6 or 7 so I will have time to walk again before relaxing for the night.

I like it that we're talking about how to do this......it *DOES* help morale in a big way.
One thing that I make a point to do.....keep it interesting.
I have pretty much given up on a lot of things that I used to live on that were terrible for me......pasta, potatoes, rice, and bread.
And beef is virtually off my list.
BUT......I generally go out to eat with my family once a week, and I allow myself some latitude.....which means I'll get a steak.
But I'll get the 7-9oz. filet, NOT that 24oz. "Cattleman's Cut" chunk of beast.
And I eat a salad instead of the fries......but I'll go ahead and get a creamy dressing.
To me, it's not so much about depriving myself as it is about moderation.

Scott, you are spot on with the walking, that helps keep the pounds off. Diet is fine, but can't work on its own.
I am few pounds overweight, but that is due to beer, not food. I eat what I like, although I don't have a sweet tooth nor do I like Coke or any other fizzy drinks, apart from beer.
As I am a gardener, I walk miles everyday at work, with constant bending, stretching, digging, shoveling etc. In my spare time, I work in the garden at home and do all my own landscaping, building etc. Or, if I go out with the camera, I park the car and walk miles taking shots.
Good luck to all of you with your own personal goals!! |

Your right. On the scale I have (the one posted a few treads up) It gives me my body fat %. Well if I just diet with no exercise I loose pounds but not the fat pounds. I dropped a couple of pounds the otherday but my fat % went up a 0.2. I could not understand why until I read the book that came with the scale. Exercising builds muscle and burns the fat so the weight I loose should be fat weight. And the BI (body fat % should go down). ~I hope!
ETA: Just got back from my walk. Took my dog with me, that added exercises since she pulled on the harness the whole time. A large truck came in the complex and she don't like trucks. She wanted to run home, and home is up hill /.

Has anyone tried the Lean Cuisine Panini...they have great flavor and are filling. They only cost me 6-points on Weight Watchers...that's 320 calories, 7g fat and 5g fiber. The chicken, spinach and artichoke is really good. Great for a quick lunch! |

I like the full-fat panini with bauernspeck, fresh basil, and raw mozz. Why, oh why, did I have to buy a panini press?! |

OK, well...AACCKK, here goes: 196 lbs
This is the most I have ever weighed, and it sucks. I don't have a scale, so weighed myself on the big "step on" scale at the vet's office when I picked the "girls" up from daycare, haha! I am definitely going to have to get a scale. |

159 pounds - depressing, as I used to be rather skinny most of my life. Living in Japan and being of western size, means also to not being able to buy ANY clothes.
For tracking any progress or the lack thereof, I use the Wii-fit :))) My husband got it for himself and it praises you for even the slightest success ... |

Diet orange drink is what helped me off the wagon over a year ago and led me back to the weight gain, no exercise,
regime I've been on. The Pepsi brand diet orange on ice, I'm addicted to. I'm out right now and am doing some serious DT jones! I won't be able to get my reference weigh until Sat. AM. My scales have a dead battery. |

Take a picture of yourself today. (Tim, the fairytooth shots will be fine -- hahahah). Then, in three months take another and see if the difference is visible. Of course, there is no way in Fayetteville that I will show my before picture unless my after picture is substantially better. :)

Just stopping by to wish you all good luck - I think this is a great idea! (Though I'm wondering what we get if the Tooth Fairy fades away a little... it may be even scarier...) Keep at it, folks, and encourage each other. Before you know it, DPC will be a lot lighter!
(I can't remember who said they don't like water, but those Crystal Light packets you can add to water are not bad at all. They had those at the dining facilities downrange and I ended up learning to rather like them - while in the desert, you drink a LOT of water, and one of those little Crystal Light packets in a bottle now and then really kinda broke up the tedium of plain water all day. And this is from someone who hates artificial sweeteners.) |

So, aleady going to have a test to my resolve! Hubby and I haven't had a date night in a looong time...I finally have a babysitter tonight. Hubby is 6' and 153#...and I am decidedly not. We always end up doing something that will certainly sabotage my next weight in!! Most likely out for dinner...probably a steak place. Any ideas how to order without getting myself in too much trouble??? I was going to try and talk him into something else (drive-in movie or mini golf). Unfortunetely, the weather here stinks...cold and wet! |

One thing that I have found helps a lot when I go out like that is to cut my food in half as soon as I get it. Then, ask for a to-go box and put half of it in it. Eat what is on your plate.
Another thing that is helpful is to eat a low calorie snack (fruit would be good) as you walk out the door or even on your way. That way when you get there, you won't be so hungry. If I go hungry, I will almost always get a steak and loaded baked potato, etc. If, however, I'm not, I will usually go for grilled chicken, etc. or even a big salad (order dressing on the side).

That's very good advice. i was also going to suggest cutting the meal in half. The portions they serve in restaurants are usually bigger than what would be considered a "normal" serving anyways.
I also read about some people wanting to cut out soda from their diets. That's actually a very good idea if you drink regular soda. A good friend of mine is a dentist and she told me that the worst things for your teeth are soda and potato chips. Soda, for the obvious chemicals and sugar, and the chips she said stick to your teeth and most people can't feel them stick to your teeth, so the chips stay stuck there for awhile. |

Glad to say when I stepped on the scale this morning I had dropped .2 lbs. Not much but hey I will take it and not complain. |

Yea. Post your loss (or gain) at least weekly. If you want to do it more, that is fine with me. :)
