I've been a part of DPC for "one" full year now. Although I haven't won any ribbons; not yet anyhow, I feel that I have reached great levels in learning & experience. I was only a "registered member" for about 2 weeks before I UPGRADED to "member". I was shooting with only my Sony DSC-P50 at the time. It wasn't until May '07 that I got my Nikon D40x.

I definitely feel that I've improved with my photography. These first few images are some of my first challenge entries here at DPC (and my how they could be improved!).

.

I even earned "Brown Ribbon" status with only my fourth entry:

The next few are some of my latest entries, (and greatest if I must say so myself)!

.

These last few pictures are just some others of my misc outings.

All in all this last year has been a BLAST of fun. Thanks DPC for everything you offer and a really big thanks to all you DPC'ers that participate also. I still plan on being around for awhile. Now get out there and wear out the shutter release button!

Brandon, I've just looked through your portfolio and you have an amazing gift! Your images are outstanding.

Thanks Penny,

Sometimes it's hard to know just what setup to go with or the post-processing but mostly I'm just trying to learn from you guys. Maybe take an image and then use the inspiration from that one to shoot the next one? I'm hoping to increase in "favorites" and "comments" but for me it just takes time.

The biggest thing that I really find encouraging is that, although I was on a photoshoot with others ( mpeters to be exact) on some of these shots, the top five photos in my profile are most my own setup. What I mean is, it wasn't someone else's "model" or "pose", I just took the image how I best saw it right then.

I do need to give Mark credit for my - First Light -:

He helped me with the angles and reflections. Although his image is quite a bit better, it still gave me a goal to shoot for. I did do all the camera set-up and post processing though!! Here are his shots that inspired me:

Happy Anniversary.

You have really progressed in only one year. Have you been working with your post processing? It's really good.

Lydia,

To tell you the truth, I didn't get PS Elements until my "Technology II" image.

So my first 7 entrys were straight out of the camera with a simple crop in the "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"!! No usm, color enhancements, levels, brightness, contrast, etc...

Even the editing that I have done has been very minimal; EVEN IN THE ADVANCED EDITING challenges (FS's & more). I'm still trying to learn Post-processing but it has been a slow process. If you have any editing pointers for photos even other than challenge entries, feel free to PM me with tips and hints. -BB
