Day 2, Shot at a local park about 1/2 mile from home, on the river and just after sunset. It's a little noisy because of the iso 400, but speed was already down to 1/15 sec at full aperture, so 400 was my choice.

Here is the unedited camera file version of the day 1 shot for those who wanted to see the whole flower. I cropped it for the day 1 shot to be able to see the detail in the fuzzy areas of the flower, as they were indistinct at the 640 pix posting size with it not cropped.

I was in the middle of uploading last night when we had a power failure - so rather belatedly:

From a distance of about 5 ft, at work under flourescent light mixed w/daylight, "Soft Skin" setting used (which fires the flash). My model has very dark, deep-set eyes so I used a setting that would include flash. We're going to do some head shots pretty soon, I'm practicing. Be critical, please!

Thanks for the comments. I reworked it a bit.

I had a good day shooting today, and it was hard to choose. I feel that this would be the most DPC friendly one.
I am really enjoying hunting subject material for this P&S side challenge. It's fun for a change to just carry a tiny thing around that can shoot fairly nice photos, and to try to get all it has to offer.

Another shot of Chris. I asked him to look right thru the lens into the eyes of people he'll never met, & give them The Look. After spending some time today reading up on my camera, I decided to use the Intelligent ISO setting. I shot full-frame, no zoom, by walking up on him because I wanted to make the most of his nose, not his most promient feature. Any suggestions you might have? Please be as critical as you can. Thanks!

Day 2 (Already behind: takes me forever to decide on a picture and then work out what I want to do with it. But trying to have each shot taken on the day).

Day 4

I wish I'd used the point and shoot digital macro for the macro challenge as my entry wasn't too good (and currently on sub 5) ...

I've actually used the point and shoot for another challenge now as I could not get the shot I wanted with the SLR!! I got the shot I wanted with the point and shoot within a couple of shots, I spent 20 minutes setting up the tripod, trying various ways of shooting and positions but could not get anywhere near what I managed with the p&s!
