Ha! Perfect timing, Don, because I just got this note in reference to my prettiest shot:

I have a school project where I must recreate a photo. I have chosen to redo your photo "Sonata in Blue".

The only problem is that I have to write a small essay on you for another section of the project.
Could you possibly give me some information about any of these things:
-locations where you like taking photos
-favorite subjects, cameras you use, where you learned to take photos, etc

You can breathe a sigh of relief. The curator of the Chelsea Art Museum decided not to include it in the Agora Gallery competition finalists.

Fenced in portraits and scores are up in the results thread. Congrats to purpleflutterby13 for her top 5, and the top portrait, and to Bear_Music for the top fence shot.

Bear_Music also has bragging rights for the week!

On my way to an all time new low score! I really suck.

Intimacy down to 3.000
I was at at 3.5 with two votes, but someone decided to change there's so now at a 3.0 with 2 votes.
Gotta love it, brings a smile to my face.

But anyways. Congrats all. There some some lovely shots in environmental portrait.
Cheers and god shooting.

The problem I have with my patterns entry is I really do like it. I need to not enter those. :-) But it's there and that's that. And it's not for the update button, as I have scores off permanently.

'Grats, Jelena, on the top 5!! I'll take a gander through all the entries later today, maybe leave a comment or two. And another good wish for Shez on her surgery! And gotta agree - patterns are your strong suit, dear - you'll do just fine!

Well, OK, I had to check. Here you go:

Someone remind me why it is I enter challenges, please?

From recent memory. I'll say this A feel good shot for me. Perhaps from the memories it invokes and it looks great.

Thank you kindly. That does help. Now if I could just learn to SIMPLIFY SIMPLIFY SIMPLIFY!!! Even that one had too much in it for the challenge - not enough focus on the "silverware" aspect, I suspect. But by darn, I liked it - glad you did too!

Congratulations to everyone for this that and the other. Jayson, you now have personal experience to prove that intimacy is the gateway to betrayal. Deb, simplification, simplification and simplification can be arranged by lobotomy, lobotomy and lobotomy. Or not. Thanks for the comments, Ernie - you got yourself into a couple of shots there, well done.

I've got one comment on my patterns, saying "if it wasn't for the . . . (feature of which I am particularly proud) . . . this would be really good.

heh.

From Michelle's profile: Saw this great quote today by posthumous: "I won't risk a bore for a score."

And Peter, I've tried simple, and sometimes actually like simple, but it never really translates well for some reason. I'll stick to being disappointed with how what I like is received here. Seems to be a pattern.... :-)

I've based my pattern on the KISS principle...oh yeah also shot it at 11th hour...maybe I should do that more often...

My pattern is sitting at an even 5.0 with 20 votes. It hasn't had a vote since I've been up. LOL!

My EP was a big disappointment. I can't get over the number of 1's, 2's & 3's. Anyway, my aunt (the subject) loved the shot and added it to her "services slideshow" loop that she has running at the front desk.

I have a 5.7 on my pattern entry. One very nice comment from Deb! Thanks!
Hey Kelli, are you logged off of messenger or don't you love me anymore? LOL

My patterns is not resonating with anyone. You'd figure at least I'd get a DNMC or something, but nada. Turned scores off after the initial 4.7 this morning. Figure it probably isn't going to recover a whole lot, but hoping it creeps above a 5 before the fat lady does her thing.

Deb, I'll race ya. After 17 votes my score is under 5. This puzzles me, but increases my affection for the shot. No comments, so my only guess is an extremely literal interpretation of the challenge (i.e., only Tartans and polka dots need apply?)?

Mine is my desktop background at work this week. It fascinates me. I think it's best viewed for longer than a second, which could be a problem....

Deb - I saw you pulled that quote from my profile page. And I think't it's a great mantra to live by here.

I think the smartest thing to do at this place is put in things that fascinate you. Even if you KNOW that the voters are not going to get it, you are putting in something that defines who you are as a photog. And all it takes is one person to say - "that's cool!" or "I get it!" and you know it's where it belongs.

I put in my pattern pic knowing full well it was not gonna be well received because it's not a "pattern in your face" kind of pic. But I like the way it looks. So, nyah, to all the voters :D

I do believe I have a good shot at the Brown ribbon.

I did get a comment, and it is essentially "DNMC". Fair enough. Not sure I'll even get that one person that thinks it works (other than me, and that blasted Timfy person who said "I really like that one", and when I said "but you'd never enter it in a challenge in a million years!", he acknowledged that no, he probably wouldn't. Said he'd be proud to have that on his card. Didn't say he'd download it to his computer though. I should have taken that as a sign, huh?)

Go, Julianne! :-)

Well, since everyone else thanked Deb for her comment, I will too.

I have to tell you.....except a comment by timfythetoo on my B&W Portrait, Deb gave me the best comment since I've been at DPC.

My Patterns is sucking along at 5.15, but at least I am apparently in good company. :)
