lol Spot on actually.
I seem to recall dancing to 'I'm singing in the rain', with the teddybear swaying in the appropriate rhythm :)
Well, ok, maybe a few more people around... But other than that :) |

That's all they say (which I like), but what popped into my head immediately was "macro". And now that's all that's in my head (those of you who have chatted with me will know that my mind has a limited capacity; usually it's "beer" "beer" "beer" but tonight it's "macro" "macro" "macro").
Anyone who would care to give me stream of conscience thoughts on "Little Things", it would be greatly appreciated!

"Little" is a comparison word, so think of pictures of things much smaller than a big thing, but have the attention drawn to the little, not the big. You can do this by cropping out part of the big thing. |
That seems like a very narrow minded approach to me . . . I was thinking of taking pictures of really, really big things, with just normally big things beside them to make them look like small things . . .
Say, a big beer factory with a keg of beer next to it . . .

"Little Things"
Things that seem insignificant when looked at, but are of a huge, overwhelming importance to the person who owns it.
For example :
I own a beanbag frog. Brown corduroy on one side, black velveteen on the other, brown wood bead eyes.
It's not large, nor fancy. It's not old enough to be antique, nor young enough to be new.
It smells faintly of smoke.
It's kind of ugly even.
Doesn't sound very special does it ?
But - it is.
It belonged to my mother. For my entire life, that frog has sat above or beside her bed. Through three husbands, many homes, many years.
The day my mom passed away, I asked my stepfather for the frog. He brought it for me on the day of her visitation.
Now, it sits along side MY bed.
So - it may just be a little thing. But it's a little thing which is a HUGE thing to me.

Okay guys - my membership expires in 6 days.
I *will* be renewing it. But not until hubby is back at work. He's on an indefinite lay-off right now (take a look at any news article about UAW and American Axle in the US right now for the story), so we're conserving our pennies as much as possible.

Perhaps you qualify for the newly-invented, world-changing, fantastically titled "DPC Membership Grant for people who epitomize sucking." Brought to you by ... me. Here are the criteria:
1) You're breathing.
2) You've been a Team Suck member for long enough that I know you.
3) You're cool (as evaluated by the sole grandpoobah and eternal judge, me).
4) Did I mention breathing?
I do believe you qualify. Shall I begin the paperwork, to be filled out in quadruplicate?

So I don't have fun stories to tell about the Middle East anymore (oh darn) but I did get out this Sunday to see the Easter market in Wiesbaden. Kind of like a big vendor/flea market complete with street performers and a marching band and activities for kids of all ages. The stores were open as well (they're usually closed on Sundays here).

And Rob, here's your "little thing"
Edit to add that I'm trying out Gordon's suggestion of just using a prime lens for awhile, though I can't quite commit myself to a full month's worth. These were all taken with the 100mm.

Well, I guess that means I don't qualify unless I get my asthma under better control, huh ? Good thing I've got an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, or I just may end up failing qualifications 1 & 4.
Thank you muchly Jeffrey.

Lea, I dunno if you're carrying any extra weight on your upper body or not, but my asthma has become more manageable since dropping weight, my snoring has diminished greatly, AND......my sleep apnea has virtually disappeared.
I have been doing exercise as well, and concentrating on what works to help build wind.
You may find that people who have met me claim I'm windy, though......8>) |

Go on, you know you want to. Why would you stop when you are doing so well with just that one lens ? :) |

That all depends on whether the babe has nursed recently or not ;)
All said - I do carry a lot of extra weight, and I know that I'll feel better when I lose some. I'm walking the dog every day, which helps.

I'm in for blur. This was a fun challenge to shoot, and it's unlike my usual style. |

bleh. I tried for Blurry Mess, really I did, shot a few hundred frames. But absolutely nothing inspires me to submit it. Right challenge, but wrong time for inspiration, I guess. I will content myself to sit on the sidelines and cheer on my fellow Suckees.

Tilted Silverware entries and team scores are up in the results thread (I'd link it, but the message format buttons aren't doing anything right now). Congrats to sherpet and Melethia for leading the scores in the open challenges; the rest of us look forward to your comments. Weekly bragging rights to go basssman7.
Is it just me, or are random things on the site's page (like the menus across the top) missing or not working right?

I misread the current open challenge as "Feces". Good thing I didn't rush to get an entry for that! |

Congrats, Shez, Deb, and Ernie!
I messed up while saving and now I'm updateless. ARRRGGGH. I'm already going crazy not having a score to watch. And I'm in the middle of a run of 3 6+ scores, too. Now I have to wait 5 loooooooooooong days.
And I LOVED playing in the blur side challenge. Good luck to all of you!
