Bread in Spanish is "pan," so maybe you can shoot both? ;-)

(PS- They're both Open challenges now)

;-)) I noticed that. Thanks.

This means you can now go ahead with you plan to drop a loaf of bread into some milk or soup and photograph the splash, thereby stomping your round one opponent. :-)

Erik, you have THE best ideas ;-) But I think I'm the one who'll be stomped.
Did you know that this is typical long distance runners talk (overmodest).

Hmmm, 13 ribbons versus 0 ribbons, 11 scores >7 versus 0 scores >7. YOU are being way over-modest, I am just being realistic. I think I'll come out way ahead if I just eat my loaf of bread rather than letting it get stale while photographing it.

Well hi Briana, I sure fit the 'lunatics' division ;)

Got my bread and my pans! now I just need some matches lol.

Don't be put off by my average to date, I can rise to the plate during H2H's!

Hey Andi! Bread Flambe', eh? Sounds potentially dangerous (both in scoring and in personal safety). I'm looking forward to seeing whatcha got!!! I have an idea for the panning challenge that kicks some serious butt, but I just have to find the time to make it happen. I'm off on a busines trip (bleh) for a few days... hopefully when I get back I can get down to the much more important business of shooting.

Looks like I got me an entry for the Lunatic division. We'll see how she fares and whether I come up with anything better between now and Tuesday.

She??? Oh wait...let me guess...you were banned from stripping down to your underwear so instead you paid some poor female into running past you and jumping off the cliff????

During sunrise and into long exposure waves. I'm panning while I take the picture.

No, I just said "she" for the same reason we call the sea "she"; it's something unpredictable and wild and will turn and bite you the second you take your eye away... ;)

If you disagree with that, you only need to look in the mirror, eh Judi?

Just for clarification - do we need to ensure that our opponent enters the same open challenge?

Rule #3 from the original thread:
3. Each week you may select one of the open challenges to participate in. The member challenge DOES NOT count in this tournament.

Or is it just based on overall score in either challenge ?

I think it would be the highest score...not placement in the challenge.

My understanding is that it is highest score MINUS 0.1 points for every ribbon you have previously won. I'm sure Enzo has a professional interest in the whole David vs Goliath story and would therefore want to help out the underdogs. :-)

It's purely overall score. You may pick either challenge.

Statistics have no meaning in real life ;-) Whoever wins pays for the drinks. O.k.?

My mistake, it is the 2008 Free Study Marathon and not the Enzo Tournament that gives whiney underdogs a break. But in any case, I've got some money saved up, so what's your favorite drink - coffee with a bit of milk, hot chocolate, or blueberry milk shakes? ;-)

Hee, hee! In real life I've never tasted coffee or hot chocolate. I hate drinking milk. My favourite drink, if you're buying, is a nice single malt.
What's your favourite drink if I'm paying?

How about some psychedelic water?

Alright...where is Deb? Hey Deb, I know you're off somewhere making a gorgeous bread picture aren't you? Out in the streets looking for some of that wild street bread or strolling the malls looking for bread fashion? Oh...I know you're out there lurking, trying for the perfect bread shot! But fear this...I HAVE BREAD ON MY MIND and I have big ideas that I am kneading into a powerful, beautiful bread masterpiece!! Beware!!

oh...and why am I in the Crazed Lunatic Division? :P

You know, Terry, I've been thinking bread and pans all week. Though I don't actually own a bread pan. I'm thinking of buying one, then waiting for sunset... Would I actually need bread in the bread pan because I really don't know how to make bread. I buy bread. That should count, right? I did try the street stalking thing today but nary a free-ranging loaf was to be found. Perhaps tomorrow. I'm not entirely sure what their natural habitat is.

And I do think we're in the correct division. :)

It sure beats the Dead D200 division for me ==:-O

I do like the idea of stalking free-ranging bread loaves. Brilliant! Better bring all my lenses 'cuz I don't know how close I can get or fast they can move when startled.

Terry, be very very afraid. I went shooting this morning. I have pictures on my CF card! One of them may be the winner!! (But of course that's true of Lottery tickets as well and I suspect the odds are similar...)
02/10/2008 09:31:19 AM · #46
Ha! I went shooting yesterday! Tried out my panning skills with the kids (and grownups) sledding down the big hill at the park. Well...white background didn't work very well. Maybe if there was something else in the bg...but pure white snow did not work! Oh well...I got lots of fresh air trudging through the snow that was up to my knees. I had to go to the bottom of the hill to get the shots. I'm lucky I made it back up! LOL
But I have not given up! I still have "the bread"!

I'm in! 685 panning shots, and 7 of them were in focus. Mostly. Kinda.

Ah, well. I only had about an hour in between other commitments, so I did the best I could. I've never shot 685 frames in an hour before...

OK Deb! I'm in with a bread shot and I love it (which is not a good sign)! LOL Look out!

Ann...I was laughing at the way your profile pic looks on top of mine. It looks like a woman with a lampshade on her head and some mangled legs! LOL
No, I'm not smoking anything!

Should be a good battle - I can say exactly the same thing. Bread shot, I love it, not a good sign.... This'll be fun! :-)
