Yeah I have been watching her site. I think she is an amazing photographer and her editing is one of a kind. I am trying to duplicate it but can't so far.

I got this one yesterday of my granddaughter. I was wishing I had all those lights and the camera that Jill Greenberg has!

Well I don't think that she uses an abnormal amount of lights. Most of her shots are either ambient lighting or what people have in their everyday house. What amazes me is her ability to edit the pictures. After cleaning them up some she removes the child from the background and places em on that digital gradient. I wonder if she uses fluid mask?

Yes, her editing is fantastic! I tried (with my teeny little bit of photoshop skill), but I don't have a clue how she does it. |

ok...so to the question at hand...
A couple of bounced strobes left and right and a ring-light/beauty dish front and center. Heavy PP, yes, but probably not canned filters. Sometimes she shoots digital, sometimes film.
And Jorge, if you want to try and create your own ring light, check strobist; making them has been a recent craze and there are a plethora of designs out there. Personally, I don't think they (the non-pro versions) do a lot of good. The best results I have seen were from a guy who was simply strapping two strobes to his longish lens. |

Well I haven't perfected it yet and I am only close enough to smell it. When I do get it right I will a tut on the best way to achieve this. |

I'm really interested in figuring this out as well. I spent a couple hours yesterday playing with different lighting setups. I don't have a ring flash so I had to work with what I have, which isn't so bad. I've got four strobes to work with and this is what I came up with.
I didn't have as much time as I wanted to work on this further for the post processing. I still plan on improving it but there is something special about her style and I don't know how to get it. That being said, I'm pretty pleased with the start. |

Here's a link to Amy Dresser.
Amy retouches for many people, Gill Greenberg included.

You know that's what I love about her site. She too is an EXCELLENT image editor but still she has a style of her own. Kate Turning is a damn good photographer as well.
