You can, but he'll still be charged the fee to receive it.

With a business/premier account, it's the act of receiving money that generates the fee. The method of sending is irrelevant.

I have the same issue with the MS Tournament.

Well with the addition of even more people, I say Jason subtracts his fees first and then the money is disbursed to Hotpasta and then the winners (if they choose to received some money rather than giving it all to Hotpasta). In other words, Jason should not be out of pocket for doing this wonderful charitable thing.

A free or consumer account will not be charged the 3% fee, but there are limits on how much you can pull out of the money you recieve, and how often. Basically Paypal still get their money in some earned interest from having all that extra cash in their account while you wait to pull it out.

Not the most efficient from a time standpoint, but more efficient on a money savings standpoint.

I'd just sent $26 then and be happy for what's going on here...am I not doing the math right?

Free accounts also have limits on how much money you can receive by credit card.

I always run the MS Tournament as donating the proceeds net of prizes and PayPal fees and I agree it would be perfectly appropriate for Jason to do the same. The fees should amount to about $50 in this case.

Thanks for the info guys. I will send out a mass email detailing information and then send out invoices. I am potentially going to get Enzo the money either through a Money Order or through a bank transfer if it means less comes out. This is the main reason contributors only should send their donations to me. The other reason is Enzo is still working on setting up a PayPal account. I guess PayPal will get their's, but this wouldn't be possible without them.

The tournament in now full. If you would like to donate money directly (100% goes to Enzo) you can still do so over the next week while I collect funds.

I might being thick here but how does a bracket of 48 work?

If I may offer a suggestion, how about just like normal except with a 3-way final round?

One way is to make round 1 consist of three people going against each other, with just the single winner among the three advancing into the round of 16; after that it is just a simple bracket. The "competition among three" step can also be done during a later round. Not sure what DrAchoo has in mind.

Actually like that better than my original suggestion.

I was planning on having 16 random byes in the first round. This is based on a bracket I found online.

3-way first round would be a possibility, but I think it would kill too many people too quickly (32 would be out in one week). I want there to be some fun.

Actually, I'll look into that 3-way final round thing. That might be cool.

You all ROCK! But particularly DrAchoo for his brilliant idea and organisation skills!

Can I just qualify one thing?

He WILL have to buy a Canon won't he? (it says so in the rules somewhere doens't it?)....SMILE!

Go Team!

The 3-way final round is the best idea as it allows everybody to participate from round 1. I'll send out an update on that and get the brackets going ASAP.

Now wouldn't doing that make all his current lenses redundant ?

OK...Canon, let me see...10 Nikon lenses in the bag...yeah, they should fit the 40D...where's my spanner and chisel? :)

I just finished preaching today in our service and actually told my story as part of my message. I told everyone what everone here is doing and Lisa, I read two of your emails to them...hope you don't mind. I am really looking forward to meeting you and your family soon. The church was really impressed with the sentiments of the dpc community towards me, a 'stranger' in some way to many of you.

How can I say thanks again? This has been the most positive experience in my life after going through one of the most negative and traumatic experiences.

I am really sad about my camera, and often find myself reaching for it. I am on a 21 day photography fast from tomorrow anyway, so, we'll see what happens.

I particularly want to thank everyone that signed up for this challenge. I am trying to get time to PM everyone. I have a wedding to do this afternoon, so I just sneaked into my office to write this. In due course I will respond to everyone. I especially thank the people that are sending any prize money my way. That's just second mile kindness that once again overwhelms me.

Love to you all,

And thanks acain Doc,

Enzo

Is is scary that my first thought was, "How's he going to shoot a wedding without a camera?" DOH!

How silly am I?! I thought he was the Pastor for the wedding...not the photographer...!

::sigh::...I must do something with my feeble brain!
