not an awful start, really low amount of entries this year, actually a bit less than some normal free studies, oh well, the top 20 images will still all be worth favoriting.

And I just received my first "too dark" comment. And to think I lightened it to compensate for those who don't have calibrated monitors. |

First it held a while at 6.8 with glowing comments.

Then it dropped to around 6.1 and held there - still not bad.

So this morning I get up to a 5.5???????????????? and no more comments.

Would this appeal to the masses?

It has everything they like...butter, sugar and antlers. |

Are those antlers edible? If so, I'd give you a 10 for this. |

I feel like that too. My computer is a laptop with a bright screen and when I see my pics on monitors without the bright screen technology my pics look darker and color is a bit different. How does one compensate for that? |

I haven't done a whole lot of voting yet, but I try to vote on technicality first then factor in my interest in the subject. It seems that some people may think "i hate that picture" and give it a 1 or 2 even though technically the picture may be great. I don't understand that... if someone meets the challenge, the pic is in focus, the horizon is level, and the colors are true, how can it possibly deserve a 1 or 2 score? |

I'll head up there depending on how many dark comments I get from "best of 2007" LOL |

I don't try to compensate for other monitors because you don't know what people have and if they have them calibrated. My monitor is calibrated and I edit pictures so they look good on my monitor. Knowing that most people don't have a calibrated monitor may hurt my scores sometimes ("too dark"), but I'd rather do it right. I then use these threads to promote monitor calibration...

Aaargh! Make it stop! This is easily my worst entry to date when I really thought it would do well. There's some absolutely amazing stuff in there though so I'm kidding myself it's being rated poorly in contrast to the others ;)

After a run of 4s and 5s with shots I like but the voters don't, its nice to see something that might actually replace one of the high scores on my profile page if it holds up.

		| So close to that 7 and yet so far... Just a couple more high votes and it would push me over the edge. Or a couple more low votes, and, well, it might be out of reach forever. |
