Well you got me. Shortly after responding to the thread earlier, I touched up the photo a bit and ordered some cards from Smugmug. First time I have tried to have cards printed. Correction: I used Shutterfly to order my cards and photo books.

I don't think I'm going to have time, since we just got back from our trip and I haven't done ANYthing related to Christmas yet. But if I could manage to, I'd use one of my roos or koalas or beaches or somesuch from the trip :)

The first one I didn't really intend as a card, but may end up sending it out. The 2nd is the one I planned on sending out to some other DPCer's :)

A note about SmugMug's holiday cards. I placed an order for a client on Saturday morning, Saturday evening I got the shipping notice and today I have the cards! Wow!

I like how the second one has a snowy scene while the inset picture was taken at the beach! Sort of a "I am warm and having fun while you have to deal with the snow" image. Both nice cards.

This year, I'm doing something extra. I took my photos and made my own photo calendar. The CVS and Kinko's ones were so boring looking, I found this one on the web that was just beautiful. You don't need to learn any special software to customize the photo calendar templates, but you do need microsoft word. I'm not even the artistic type but boy will my siblings be surprised I produced this. The photo calendar templates are free, I got there here: //www.joyremembered.com/photo-calendar-using-microsoft-word/28/

Good luck. and happy holidays everyone. the rush has definitely started.

I went the Shutterfly route this year. Kept it pretty plain & simple. Even simpler by having them pose separately. :)

Happy Holidays Everyone! :)

I took my family out and shot portraits on Thanksgiving day, which was almost the peak (few days after) for the fall foliage here this year. I didn't make cards from them though, since my wife already had bought boxes of cards after Xmas last year, so we just put the prints inside the cards.

[The best photo ended up being taken in the median of a 4-lane divided road that runs through a business park -- right by my corporate office, in fact. I parked the car in a right-turn lane across the road, set the camera up behind the car, and used the remote to capture several frames of us sitting in a carpet of bright yellow leaves with tall pines behind/OOF, framed on top by branches with more bright yellow leaves. Luckily there wasn't much traffic, but it's funny to wonder what people might have been thinking as they drove past. I'll try to remember to post the pic later.]

Here's the front of ours.

The inside has a few more small pics and the greeting.

Nice seeing everybody's cards

I'm sending out this as a Christmas postcard. I love the idea of no envelopes! Not sure if this means I am getting lazy now or what - but I like it!

I haven't done one this year (or last), but here's an image I used for a card two years ago:

My cards came yesterday and look nice. Glad I didn't make the printing any smaller. The photo books should be here in the next day or two also. I ordered 24 page ones 8 1/2 x 11 from Shutterfly for the immediate family. Plus one for me to show off.

Here is are card for this year. I ended up getting it at Walmart because I could not find the right template at Shutterfly. It is printed in a 5X7.

No time to take a new picture this year, so this is an outtake from last winter's Pet Portrait II challenge. No text on the front of the card.

[thumb]620738[/thumb] This is going out with our Holiday cards this year. Pictured is my son with his new Service dog Hazel. She is suppose to be a fulltime member of our family by CHristmas and we are all very excited. She came for a visit today and I shot an impromptu photo during the session for our cards.

Well my plans to photograph the whole family went down the tubes when I made an unscheduled trip out of town on Thanksgiving Day. So instead, I'm seriously considering this for our 2007 holiday card.

LOL, the reason I didnt post back on the 28th was because I was swamped with them! :)

My regular computer is in the shop for some badly needed repair, So I'll post mine as soon as I have it back. :)
