i did a dvd cover shot and don't think its an easy way out at all.
i also think the best one in there happens to be a dvd cover and the picture is absolutely amazing, which is what counts |

| I've voted 1/2 way so far, and these images are "wow!" I refrained from entering becuse I knew these were going to be some awesome pictures, and they are! Great job to all who entered. |

I'm happy with my score but it sucks to have someone beat you since they didnt follow the description. "Scene" not DVD cover. I looked over the photos and yes some of the ones that are DVD covers are amazing. That's why it's annoying because they will score higher because they look good, not because they followed the challenge. It doesn't matter anyway I guess. There are always you select people who don't read or even do read it and dont care and then just do whatever it is that you want to do.

Heh, you haven't seen their scores yet ;) Think the top 3 will all be dvd covers, but that's just part of the game :D Even if it's not a scene per say, the voter won't differentiate all too much. I came into this challenge expecting that and I'm not frustrated by that in anyway. Those photos were smart because they understood how DPC votes and the stronger sticky factor covers/posters have over regular scenes. |

To say a DVD cover is not following the theme of the challenge!!!, 98% of movies a scene is shown on the DVD cover.Having grown up in a movie theater family and helping with poster advertising, the best way to sell a movie is with a scene from the movie.
Just out of interest I created a scene from the movie, but I don't possess the production props to be exactly as the movie.
NB. How many voters really saw the Beginning of the End in the Fantasic Blue ribbon by  ursula are you going to say that is not following the theme of the challenge.

Some of the photos in the challenge are not scenes from the movie they are portraying. you can say what you want. look at the DVD cover and then watch the movie. and obviously you didnt read the description either. it says Pick a scene from a movie and recreate it in your photograph those covershots are not scenes from the movie. like i said before, this usually doesnt bother me when people leave out little details of following the description but they completely ignored what it says. Those DVD covers i'm referring to are not shown in those movies. Look at the last challenge, those were actual scenes from the movies. But anyway, i'm done trying to explain because it's obvious that many can not read and follow directions. Didn't we learn that in kindergarten?

would you also object if a scene was recreated but say shot from a different angle than in a movie? |

Chinabun - You made a blanket statement that the last Scene Challenge used real shots from the movie. I noticed several in the top twenty from that challenge that were more DVD covers than real shots in the movie. They were excellent images and deserved their placement.
I personally think that the Scene It challenge was to convey a movie in an image and that is what the vast majority of photogs did in this challenge. Kudos to everyone who entered. It was fun to view and vote on!

I have to agree with Chinabun on this issue. The challenge seems rather clear. There are a number of submissions that, while are decent images in their own right, but do warrant a DNMC because they are not a scene from a movie. It is a shame, but should be a lesson learned - meet the challenge.

In regard to this discussion, I used a real scene from a real movie, incorporated something that has a love/hate relationship here, and my score is getting hammered.
I know, it's because I'm a generally crap photographer... {°¤°} |

Didn't enter (wish I did) and haven't voted yet (which I will) but I have to say that this is/was/shall be one of the 'funnest' challenges in a while. I had quite a few chuckles (jr. edition...haha) and still cannot believe not only the talent, but also the intricate minds to come up with this stuff.
Congrats to all, no matter what score you get... be it a Blue, red, green, purple, HM or even a DNMC. They are all fun to look at!!!

5.4 so far.
Funny thing is, my shot is a scene from an actual movie, with the original actor in it. I'll take consolation in the fact that the shot is being used to promote the current run.

| I finished voting 100% in this challenge and imo this has to be one of the better challenges I've voted. Lots of great pics and great ideas so congrats to everyone and good luck! |
