Some of my biggest setups:
Spent about 4 hours setting up this shot.
 the setup: 
Spent even longer and a bigger setup for this one, and took almost 1,000 shots to get the splash just right:
 I wish I did a setup shot for this one!
Built a fake wall:
Another messy setup:
Another big messy setup on my dining room table:
Drove and hour, hung a Stealth F-117 model off the side of my car with fishing line:

My pet nearly killed me... still got the scar to prove it..
Balanced a knife between my fingers while I took the pic with my other hand..
Played around with a lot of dirt.. at this point in time neighbours got really suspicious..
ripped my sleeves for an outtake in which I had a lie down on the floor..

lost a real friend right before taking this (hmm, not for the challenge's sake!:)
 was dancing ballet on the snow very early one morning
 was listening to the true story of the fallen trees - a sad story
 had to play retro though everyone knows that women-CD do not like playing retro
turned into umbrella and was hanging on the chair quite a long
my street entry: was standing at one place 4 days, freezing, but I knew I would get something nice there. so I got:) |

I don't have the resources to do big setups but..
I lay on my bed under the duvet with the camera on my chest, almost under my chin. Used one hard to press the button, the other hand to play "duvet mice" i.e pat the duvet from underneath and make it move to interest the cat.
Play duvet mice for around an hour and half until the cat got bored, trying to get the focus right. The lens I used is an old manual focus lens so.. yeah it took a lot of tries to get it right.
Also my duvet isn't particularly thick and the feathers in it moved around so Nikita's claws quite happily sliced through it and into my palm. The scars have faded now though. |

This thread needs reviving....what else have people done just for a challenge photo.

All I can say is that my office (it's an apartment over my garage) is FULL of Woodys, duckies, misc toys and props and general weird stuff that nobody would have lying around. I don't have many clients up here, but for the longest time it didn't occur to me to wonder what people might think when they look around. I just don't even try to explain it because I am afraid the truth will make me look worse than whatever they are thinking already. :/
...and now it occurs to me that DPC has caused some sort of mental disorder. Is this something I can sue for? I think I can get all the Woodys to join in a class action... |

I shot my photos, I enter and then I take out my voodoo dolls shaped like  DrAchoo,  scalvert, Larus , elsapo and De Sousa and start pinning them various places... usually don't work, but I have my hopes on each challenge. I think it worked once though. I keep pinning those guys... until someone start pinning my voodoo doll :P

I find the trolls who vote my photos 1 and 2 through a custom script I wrote, then kill them and use as props in my challenge entries.
