ok ... I know it's taken me a few days to get moving on the images from Saturday's GTG ... so, here are a few ... I've just begun to go through the 4+ gig of photos ...

Great shots Pam. The ones of the kids are very nice.

thanks ... I had a great day out shooting with those guys ... lots more images to sift through, so more to come at a later date!

Are we still on for the GTG on October 20th in Detroit?

I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I cannot come. :( My son has a football game at 11:00 and even if I left after the game I would not get there till about 3 PM. And a late photography evening in downtown Detroit sounds kind of scary (unless ya'll want to go gambling! hehe)

If anyone ever wants to do something on a Sunday, let me know!

Is anyone out there......

Can't make it on 20th :-( Have a family function that I couldn't get out of.

Lots of hills that provide fantastic landscape shots, gorgeous sunsets, numerous harbors, lighthouses, nature preserves, etc. Not too much in the way of "urban" settings, although there are some very nice downtown shopping districts with unique architecture. We're also not too far from the Mackinac bridge, the third longest bridge in the world. Perhaps this could be another locale.

Yeah I love it up there! My parents live in Indian River so I'm up that way frequently. That would be a fun GTG.

Is anyone still interested in a GTG in Detroit on the 20th?
10/03/2007 07:59:23 AM · #186
I'd love to go, but something has come up for that date ... I won't be able to make it ... hope you guys have a great time!

For the next one get a group together and I will do my best to go. The last one would've been fun.

Would anyone be interested in a trip around the thumb of Michigan. I know it's a drive but there is a lot of interesting scenery. We could head east on M46 to Port Sanilac on the lakeshore and then head north on M25 around the thumb going through Forrestville, Harbor Beach, Port Hope, Point Aux Barques, Port Austin, Caseville and Sand Point.

It's not really that far. It can easily be done in a day.

Would November be better?
10/03/2007 11:43:50 AM · #190
November would be a LOT better for me ... October filled up very quickly ... but so far, November is open ...

Are you looking at the UP or Detroit for November? How far is Frankenmuth from Toledo? Maybe that would be fun.

I was just suggesting a second GTG because it was mentioned earlier in the thread and the date of the 20th and 21st was mentioned. That's why I used that date. I missed the first GTG and was really looking forward to a second one.

I don't want to go to the UP. That is 200+ miles north of Saginaw and 300+ miles north of Detroit. A gtg in Detroit would be fine with me if anyone else is interested. The thumb would also be fine. There is a lot of great scenery following the lakeshore around the thumb. I'd even be willing to do the driving. However, I'm open to most anything.

Sundays would be kind of difficult if I have to travel because by the time you get home at night and then have to get ready for work the next day, it doesn't leave much time.

Frankenmuth is between Saginaw and Flint and would be about 65-75 miles north of Detroit.

Saturdays are fine by me, just not in October this year lol.

Detroit is fine by me as well because that is closer to home. I am already about 45 minutes away from Toledo. Heck I'll even go to Ann Arbor - how does Nov. 17 sound? hahaha just kidding (check the football schedule)

Hi Pam - are you joking with me? I hope? That is the day of the OSU/UM game in Ann Arbor. It could be kind of crazy that day lol. But we could crash some tailgate parties as roving photogs hehe

Edit - but I wouldn't mind going to Ann Arbor tho!

You know that IF they actually do beat OSU, I bet Lloyd gets to coach there again next year hehe.

Actually, I don't care who wins. I'm a UC Bearcats fan and we actually have a good team this year (so far lol).

Michigan vs. Ohio... Go Ohio! There's only one reason I would go to Ann Arbor during football season and MSU is hosting this year! :-P

My wife and I went up to the Au Sable river this weekend looking for a color tour but the trees really haven't changed much yet. Did get some shots though. Hopefuly, we are going back next weekend and the colors will be better.
